Lelouch... wasn't taking the stench of this place as well as he made it seem like he did.
Sure, he acted confident and like it didn't bother him... but to say that he wasn't affected. Would've been a complete lie.
Pawn Chessmon seemed to be fine though, and really, it didn't matter much in the long run.
Of course, right now, finding C.C. was more important... and so was figuring out why she was helping Matadormon in the first place.
... Actually, never mind. Just getting her out of there took priority.
She was probably just helping Matadormon or leaking information about them because she was bored or something like that.
"Suzaku, Kallen. Are you two ready?" Lelouch asked, glad that Gino, Euphy, and Rolo weren't here right now. Gino because that meant he was keeping Euphy safe... and Rolo because even with the geass Lelouch had placed on him, was still too unpredictable.
Suzaku's eyes narrowed a bit, looking back to both of his... comrades. "Right, lets."
The small group made their way into the tunnels. There was a pathway along the drain's rushing water, which did well to allow them to move forward easily, but it wouldn't do much in the way of giving them cover were they attacked or even just spotted.
"...Lelouch. What do you think's going on here, really? Surely you have some sort of assessment."
He was certain of THAT much; but also knowing Lelouch as he did, it didn't surprise him he hadn't shared with the rest of the class.
Lelouch took the handkerchief from Kallen. "Thank you," he said, beforing tying it around his face as well.
Pawn Chessmon didn't seem to mind, or it could be that he could express himself with that helmet on his head and no voice.
Lelouch sighed as he followed Suzaku and hear his question. "It's... possible that C.C. isn't a captive in this situation. I can't see Matadormon knowing enough about us earlier if she hadn't given it to him. Of course, why she'd be working with him, I can't say... unless she's just plain bored, which is always a possibility."
C.C. looked neither amused nor bothered by Kallen's outburst.
She sincerely doubted KALLEN, of all people, came for the sole purpose of rescuing HER, of all people.
She ran a hand through her hair.
"Lelouch. Kallen. ...'Zero,'" she added the last part with a bit of an emphasis, "I'm mildly curious... Just what have you accomplished in this world?"
"As I said, I am quite impressed," Matadormon said, crossing his arms.
"C.C. has not actually told me much about your lot. Simply that she described you as people who have the capability of changing the world. That ... caught my interest, though I was somewhat skeptical. Still, after seeing what the ones calling themselves the Dai Gurren Brigade was capable of... and what you, yourselves have proven by getting this far..."
He pasued.
"Still, there are some curious questions."
He looked back and forth between Lelouch and Zero.
"As said, I do not know what your situations are, but ... what associates you, why a man would hide behind a mask... I wonder, who among you truly speaks for you? Who's voice is it that is strongest?"
Suzaku grit his teeth in frustration. This woman...
Their strings had been pulled along... Even Euphemia had been used as bait!
...
Still, the questions struck something of a chord with him.
"I fail to see why I should be conducting business with someone who goes about things in this manner!" is what he said, but his frustration still shined through. Even with his mask. His body shook with a visible anger, and he was ... considerably on edge, now.
He knew, even as the words left his mouth, though, that it's not how Zero - not how the REAL Zero - would have been able to play things.
Lelouch looked over at Matadormon and C.C., and kept himself from showing the annoyance that he was feeling. "Why exactly are you concerned about that?" he asked, trying to act as normal as he could... despite the fact that C.C. already pointed out how important they were...
... no. That wasn't right.
How important they COULD be here, if it truly came down to it.

"... here," she said, holding one out to Lelouch. "Sorry I don't have one for PawnChessmon..."
With that done, she nodded. "I'm... ready to go," she stated.
