C.C. looked neither amused nor bothered by Kallen's outburst.

She sincerely doubted KALLEN, of all people, came for the sole purpose of rescuing HER, of all people.

She ran a hand through her hair.

"Lelouch. Kallen. ...'Zero,'" she added the last part with a bit of an emphasis, "I'm mildly curious... Just what have you accomplished in this world?"

"As I said, I am quite impressed," Matadormon said, crossing his arms.

"C.C. has not actually told me much about your lot. Simply that she described you as people who have the capability of changing the world. That ... caught my interest, though I was somewhat skeptical. Still, after seeing what the ones calling themselves the Dai Gurren Brigade was capable of... and what you, yourselves have proven by getting this far..."

He pasued.

"Still, there are some curious questions."

He looked back and forth between Lelouch and Zero.

"As said, I do not know what your situations are, but ... what associates you, why a man would hide behind a mask... I wonder, who among you truly speaks for you? Who's voice is it that is strongest?"

Suzaku grit his teeth in frustration. This woman...

Their strings had been pulled along... Even Euphemia had been used as bait!

...

Still, the questions struck something of a chord with him.

"I fail to see why I should be conducting business with someone who goes about things in this manner!" is what he said, but his frustration still shined through. Even with his mask. His body shook with a visible anger, and he was ... considerably on edge, now.

He knew, even as the words left his mouth, though, that it's not how Zero - not how the REAL Zero - would have been able to play things.

Lelouch looked over at Matadormon and C.C., and kept himself from showing the annoyance that he was feeling. "Why exactly are you concerned about that?" he asked, trying to act as normal as he could... despite the fact that C.C. already pointed out how important they were...

... no. That wasn't right.

How important they COULD be here, if it truly came down to it.

"Because, I do not know it," Matadormon stated. "It's as simple as that... besides what I have told you, your lady friend has not exactly been forthcoming on anything further... simply that your history's course was changed by the individuals that stand before me. Not through sheer power or force, but with the will of one's mind."

"The Dark Area has become corrupt to its very core. We are leading ourselves towards nothing but our utter destruction, and taking the rest of this Digital World with us. I believe in my people, and our strength... but most are so blinded by their own loyalty they cannot look past their own prejudices to save themselves."

"If there are those here that have accomplished something such as what C.C. has told me... Then I want to know who. In order to break this cycle of self-destruction... I have to seek the strength of others. And I need to know who it is I must ask for that help."

C.C. crossed her arms over her chest, looking to Matadormon now for a moment. She gave a light sigh, and looked forward.

"One thing of note, of course... in our reality, the great rebellion and the way of the world was lead by a man calling himself 'Zero.'"

Her lips curled into a slight smirk as she looked at the 'Zero' before her.

"Mind you. That was then, this is now. I'd hesitate to say if something like that were still possible..."

"..."

Suzaku could barely keep himself restrained, but... after all he had done up until now? He still managed it somehow.

"Lelouch," he whispered, inaudible to Matadormon, C.C., and PicoDevimon over the sound of the rushing water."What do you want to do with this?"

"I'm not sure," Lelouch whispered back at the same volume. "As it is now, the Dark Area is a sizeable threat that needs to be dealt with... but will you be able to lead a movement in the Dark Area as Zero?"

Kallen just... inserted herself into the conversation, getting between Suzaku and Lelouch.

"Have you two maybe even considered that this is some kinda trap?"

Matadormon clicked his blades together. He could tell they were talking, but he wasn't sure WHAT they were saying.

"It is curious, though... a human would have no need to wear a mask, unless they were hiding something, yes? I wonder, what is 'Zero' hiding? Or is Zero whom I need to be speaking to...?"

Suzaku scowled heavily. What he was hiding was the truth... for the peace of his world, for the sake of Euphemia's name, he had to hide the truth...

"I'm not you, Lelouch..." he admitted, lowly. "Nor do I even see ... where or how the hell I could do something like that! You may have made Zero into some sort of ideal, but what he's asking, what we turned Zero into... I'm not sure if the two of them even match, anymore..."

He looked back at Kallen. "And I did, but... if he wanted to kill us, he'd have had the chance long ago."

"I didn't think so," Lelouch answered to Suzaku. "Which means that if we do plan to do to the Dark Area what we did to our world... and having me lead a dual life as both myself as Zero will may be significantly harder in this world than back home."

He turned to Kallen. "He's right, but so are you. Just because he doesn't want to kill us doesn't mean that he doesn't have other plans."

"Face it," she said. C.C. is always hiding something... you can't always trust her. Even if she's on your side."

A pause.

"Yes. I am fully aware of who I'm talking to."

Suzaku scowled.

"...I want to know, though... I want to know what's going on here. I don't think I can be content just to sit around and wait for matters to sort themselves out in this world. Can you?" he asked, and looked back up at Matadormon. "You have your cover, Lelouch. Use it for now. I'll go along with him for now and see what I can uncover."

He looked back at Kallen.

"As usual, anything you're doing's up to you."

"No, I can't," Lelouch answered. "But for now that's all we can do."

Kallen's brow furrowed in concentration. She thought long and hard for a moment... before cursing privately and standing up straight.

"I'll stick with Suzaku for now," she said. "I did say I wouldn't walk separately, after all."
