That was kind of odd, Crash wasn't really used to Wily being around when he 'wakes up' unless he's gotten beat up. Or blown up, you know the normal stuff.

That and it took the robot master a moment to be fully awake, and since Wily was actually there in front of him he might as well be cordial.

"Hi, Doctor Wily."

Wily's grin grew wider.

"Hello, Crash," he said, sounding as genial as was possible for a man like him. "I wanted to talk to you about something... but then I decided against it, and went for another approach."

And his expression grew serious.

"Crash Man... please take a look at your arms," he said, as he walked over to a lab table... and casually picked up two items that appeared to be Crash's own lower arms, complete with Crash Bombs.

"Okay," Crash said, blinking. Wily was, to him, acting weird even for Wily. Then he actually did as he was told and looked at his own arms.

Give him a second, because then he went and looked over at where Wily went and noticed what was on the table. Then he looked at his arms again.

"... Uhm... this is a joke, r-right?" he asked, actually sounding scared.

"A joke?" cackled Wily. "Why would I make a joke about replacing your existing weapons with a pair of air guns?"

His expression grew darker.

"No, Crash, I'm not joking at all."
