This has been a constant problem in my current apartment, so I was going to take it down and spray the wall with clorox as per usual. I had never found mildew that ( Read more... )

She doesn't exaggerate, it's really a dilemma. And it looks as if it's totally the landlord's fault because the rain gutters, sewage and plumbing are all kinda jenky. Apparently the drywall is even moist, so the mildew/mold will never go away. Help us please if you are reading her post/my reply if you know any way to remedy the situation while we look for a new place. How bad for you is mold to breathe?

Me too. Especially after reading about this. The friggin' EPA has a whole stinkin' list of all the itchy, coughing discomfort we've had ever since the sewer overflowed. I still really think that's when it got bad. It was there before, but I think that's when it picked up. I also think the new roofing is almost 'canning' in all the moisture. It's like the landlord fixed half the problem, but negated the effort by not solving the real dilemma. You know, I found this. It's a thought for you, that'd show her!

wow, that's totally NOT cool. my old parents' house in san leandro had crazy ass mold/mildew and i was sick constantly there (so was my mom). i don't know what the apts look like, but wolf's landlord has several for rent in the richmond (and they've been open for sometime so i'm sure you could talk him down from whatever he's asking). lemme know if you want his number.

Yes, we do actually have somewhat of a black widow problem. I think brown recluses(sp?), too (this is right, isn't it sweetie?)

I've found about five full grown black widows myself, she's found a nest above our front door, and then the two babies in the bedroom. Icky.
