[Shadow himself had been exhausted from the battle, as much as he hated to admit it. Teleportation via Chaos Control was more than just second nature to him, and he had performed it one last time to bring both Terra and Onion Knight back to the Sanctuary, but he only felt the effects of the fight until after they had reached safe ground. He couldn't will his body to self-generate or heal any faster, even as his mind had demanded it.

He had been leaning against the wall, off in the corner, arms crossed. He had slept, off and on. He had been too preoccupied with what he had witnessed during the rescue mission and the resulting consequences that followed.

After those hours had passed, his ears did perk up when he heard the slightest sound. Slowly, he uncrossed his arms and watched the half-Esper's movements, only to meet her gaze once her eyes had opened.]

...

[He was never, ever any good at comforting or checking up on people. Except for maybe with one, but she wasn't here. Still, he should at least... try.]... You're awake ( ... )

[It takes a moment for her eyes to focus, but that familiar voice helps rouse her somewhat. Her own is barely a whisper.]

...Shadow?

[For her sake and with the thought that he should, Shadow stepped away from the corner and out of his comfort zone. A few strides was all it took and he knelt down beside the bed where she had been laying.

He nodded. Yes, it was him, he was there, and not as a figment of her imagination, not a dream or nightmare, not any illusion. He took some comfort in the fact that while he knew it was him, he knew that she was herself again as well.]

You're back at the Sanctuary. It's over. [This ordeal, at least.]

[Her brow furrows.]

What happened? I...it's all a blur....

[Adrenaline had kept him going for as long as he had, the need to make sure that Terra was safe. But the second that they were back in the Sanctuary it had faded away and it was all he could do not to collapse before Terra was taken to Shadow's room.

He'd stumbled slowly back to his own room and tried to sleep but despite his exhaustion what rest he managed had been fitful and plagued by things that he'd much rather call nightmares than memories. Eventually, he'd decided that if he was going to be unable to sleep anyway he might as well spend that time watching over Terra.

But it was only once he was back there and once he'd resolved to try to stay awake that he finally managed to sleep. Then Terra awakes, the Onion Knight is asleep on the floor near the bad, curled up like a small animal and snoring quietly.]

[Terra tries to sit up, but her movements are sluggish and she doesn't really succeed. Her eyes focus after a moment, though, and she glances around. Not her room, but not that horrible tube and not the castle, either. This is an improvement.

Her throat is dry, and she rolls over in hopes of perhaps finding a glass of water at the nightstand. Instead, Terra happens to glance down. Her expression immediately softens and with effort, she scoots over to the edge. Reaching down, she touches his hair and strokes gently.]

[The Onion Knight stirs slowly, briefly confused in his drowsy state by 'what why is there a hand' before realizing that the hand was attached to Terra and that Terra was awake.

He communicates entirely in sleepy, confused sounds as he pushes himself up into a sitting position and scrubs at his eyes with the backs of his hands. When he finally wakes up enough to be capable of words, he smiles. He looks exhausted but the smile's no less genuine for it and he gingerly holds Terra's outstretched hand with both of his.]

I finally showed up. You miss me?

[In response, Terra makes an effort to lift her free hand. Hug time, kid. It may be the most limp hug ever on her end, but damn if they both don't need one.]

[Rosa slips into the room quietly. If Terra is sleeping, it is a much needed rest, and she would not disrupt that. She herself is weary from her own captivity, but this will not prevent her from reaching out to aid another. Especially not one who was so kind to her when she had first arrived.]

[Terra's drifting in and out. Evidence of her battle is clear enough in terms of injuries done by sword and spell. Doubtless, the blood has been cleaned up, but she could still use some healing to help speed along the recovery process. The young woman is pretty pale, limp with exhaustion.

She opens her eyes slowly upon hearing someone's approaching.]

...hm?

[Cecil accompanied Rosa, out of concern for both her and Terra. He's surprised to see just how badly injured Terra is when they enter; even with all the two of them have been through together in the past, he can't recall ever seeing her in such a sorry state. He doesn't know how or why it happened, when Rosa was left unharmed, but that can wait. His voice is gentle.]

It's us, Terra. Rosa and I are here to help you.

[The damage is worse than Rosa thought and that troubles her. She glances up at Cecil, then without another word, crosses over to Terra while preparing one of the strongest spells in her arsenal. Draining perhaps, but needed.

Only once she releases the magical energy over Terra and sees the white light spread around the injuries does she speak up herself.]

What happened? What was done to you?

And among Terra's visitors would be Saleh. After being granted access to Shadow's room, he approaches Terra slowly, his staff in hand.

"Terra?"

[He speaks softly, feeling once again incredibly guilty. It was because he had failed to get her to safety that she's even in this condition in the first place.]

Are you all right? What happened?

[Terra frowns in thought, trying to remember.]

There was a battle....

There's so little time between when Tidus speaks to her over the crystal and when he shows up to get into the room and see her. He knew Kefka - not the down-to-the-minute specifics, but definitely more than enough to know that if the clown had a hand in Terra's capture, she likely went through hell. And he can't have a friend going through that alone.

After being allowed in, Tidus doesn't stick with formalities or even try and be respectful, except for checking to make sure that she wasn't really asleep. He crosses quickly to the bed and sits on the edge, watching her closely - he doesn't have any healing spells, or even any potions this time, but he's really wanting one.

"Hey."

Terra barely has time to put down the crystal when she hears someone enter. Lifting her head up a little, she manages a small smile upon seeing him. Having Tidus there does mean a lot, even though he doesn't have healing magic or restoratives.

"Hi. I'm sorry you have to see me like this...."

"Hey, it's not like the rest of us never got hurt before." For her sake, he gives her a broad smile to cheer her up, though in reality he is pretty worried about her. Still, he doesn't have anything to help her physically, so the best he can do is help her mentally.

"Come on, you're gonna be up and around in no time. You think Cecil or anyone else is gonna let you stay like this for long? We're a team!"

Her lip trembles, though not because of Tidus' words. "Tidus...I fought the boy again. I couldn't stop...and now he's hurt because of me."
