[ he raises his brow at the slightly familiar voice but he doesn't nitpick on it yet, it's not safe to make assumptions so early in the game. ]

[ his voice is as deadpan as ever, slowly growing immune to the taunts he's been receiving as of late. ]

[ And he's not even trying to pass judgment or anything, because that'd be a whole lot of nerve, but something about this just ... gets him to him for some reason, though maybe he is just mildly sympathetic. There's also that part where he kinda knows and recognizes Cloud. He's spent a lot of time buzzing about the worlds, shadow stalking practically anyone Sora had ever encountered if only to check the progress of Naminé's handiwork.]

[ he can detect the slightest bit of sympathy in riku's voice but he waits, wanting to hear more from this person before willing to place a judgment on them. ]

[ Doesn't quite fix it though, does it? Riku sighs. ]

[ There's silence. A whole shitton of silence before Zack speaks, sounding uncharacteristically somber (he's still not sure how he's not dead) but still with a hint of affection in his voice. ]

[ that voice...no, it can't be. he strains to speak, as if finding it hard to find the courage within himself to ask who it is. ]

[ There's a bit of fumbling before the feed switches to video and Zack gives an amused (and still slightly confused) smile. ]

[ his breath catches completely unintentionally when the video feed starts, and he can't do anything but stare, mouth slightly opened as he almost drops the crystal in response. ]

[ when his grip is stable again, he swallows, seeing aerith was shocking enough but that, that he could chalk up to momentary lapse of sanity. he had those before, sometimes having visions of aerith speaking to him but zack...now that was a guilt that plagued him so intensely he tried hard to block all visions out. ]

[ yet here he was, smiling at him like nothing had ever happened between them. as if his death wasn't on cloud's hands. ]
