[She had been sleeping somewhat peacefully with the other students when the alarm was sounded. The noise was shocking. Unlike anything she had ever heard before.

Along with the hustle of everyone she had managed to lose sight of the people she knew. Her eyes search the horizon for a familiar face... and she's STILL not quite she what's going on or WHERE she's being told to go.]

What's going on?!

[Liz is holding a lantern up to the impending night, ushering students this way and that, and offering a comforting hug to the frightened.]

Walk quickly everyone, but be careful!

[This is it. They knew this would happen. Ever since they had found the bunkers, it was obvious. The staff above ground would face it together. They have to protect their students.

This is it. This is everything.

She kept a smiling face, but inside, she was wrought with worry, her stomach turning on itself. She couldn't fight this with a sword, with a pistol.

This is it. This is all they have left.]

Elizabeth. [He stopped in his path, then ushered the boys he was escorting down. Staring at her, he opened his mouth to say something but hesitated.

A moment later he spoke.]

I'm going below.

[Those words hit her core. Her very own, spoken with such conviction that closely mirrors hers of so long ago. Words that separated them. As she prepares what she is about to say, her heart drops into her stomach. He had sworn to stay by her side, yet he has no idea of what she has resigned herself to.]

[Perhaps it is the chaos that is wreaking havoc on her reeling mind or perhaps it is the words that have taken ahold of her, but she throws her arms around him, hugging him tightly. She whispers the finality of her choice in his ear.]

I am meant to stay above.

[He hugs her tight. As tight as when he was so overwhelmingly happy to see her alive aboard Sao Feng's ship. His arms are wound around her waist, but one raises up to press against the back of her head, whispering desperately by her ear in return.]

Then take my place. For God's sake I will not be able to stand it...

[When was the last time she had heard him so emotional? Not since the day he died.]

[Astrid isn't very sentimental. UNDERSTATEMENT. Astrid isn't sentimental at all. But this? This is a little terrifying and everybody is running everywhere and she can't see over the crowd and where is he?

Come on Hiccup, you better magically gain some height, because she's not moving along until she gets to say goodbye to you.]

[Between the commotion around him, the commotion of those damn voices (yes, STILL), and that godawful siren that makes him think it's the end of the world, Hiccup is one confused guy. He's haphazardly being tossed side to side, all over the place, between rushing people. He's trying to move, but with little success. Finally, he manages to make way for himself and starts moving.]

Argh!

[For some reason, his left leg begins throbbing, the pain echoing throughout the rest of his body. He can feel his left leg--the actual thing--as it's being torn to pieces. He's had phantom limb pains, but never this bad. Just as he started walking, he falls over with a groan, clutching his leg just below the knee, trying to alleviate the pain in a limb that wasn't there.]

[Well, it's not height- but it is a bit of a commotion, and as people part to move around him, Astrid spots a metal leg on the ground. Who else has a metal leg at this school?

Pushing her way over, she gets on her knees on the floor, and without any further explanation, Hiccup is getting a magnificent hug. Best hug ever. Not something Astrid often gives out, either.]

[He doesn't notice it at first, between the pain and the eyes clenched shut. A few moments later, though, the pain lets up and he feels like he can focus on something else. A little. When he opens his eyes, he sees Astrid. Hugging him.]

[Should he expect a kick to the stomach now? She never does something as nice as that without hurting him afterwards.]

This way, this way... [He's staying above ground, but keeping a-- panicked-- eye out for Chel just so he can give her a hug before she goes into the safe area.

He's sensing impending doom. But frankly he always senses that.]

[Chel's face is completely transparent, reflective of the immense worry she so often disregards. Catching sight of Tulio, she begins to race through the people, forcing her way into his arms. She buries her face into his chest, trying to avoid the crowds of students being rushed into the underground.

For once, she has nothing to say.]

[He's instantly relieved to see her and tosses his arms around her. He closes his eyes as he presses his cheek down against the top of her head. He really, really, doesn't want to let her go.]

[Feeling her eyes swell with tears, she cannot bear to break away and look at him.

Her voice is muffled into his shirt.] Please don't stay up here.

[This has been a very stressful week. But now that there are panicked students to take care of, Clopin feels more in-control than he did when the Mouse wanted him to sit in the dark with no idea of what was going on and what to do.

He missed all the staff meetings, but he it's not hard to gather what's going on. He gets some altitude on the other teachers and tries to direct traffic and break-up fights from above]

No pushing, you'll all get downstairs much faster if you're not blocking the entrance. One at a time, trust me, there's plenty of space for everyone.
