[As if it weren't enough that he didn't know what was happening to Berk and all its residents. As if it weren't enough that Toothless was missing and probably in danger from the mist

Astrid is hanging out in like, 5 places at once.alwaysaxefirstJanuary 8 2011, 03:48:44 UTC
[Between her search for someone with answers and the overall franticness of the situation, Astrid had- several times now- forgotten important things- there were stairs at the other end of the dorm, to run you had to use both feet, Hiccup- Hiccup!
Astrid was running way too fast to catch herself before she runs straight into the smaller Viking, falling backwards onto the floor and probably knocking him over as well.]
[Astrid spoke through tight lips, as though she was almost willing the words to not come out.]
I shouldn't have left for Berk without you. I should have either stayed here, or made you come with me. That way, if something happened to you, I wouldn't have to keep wondering what I might have done if I'd been there.
[Normally, Astrid would be all for blaming it on Hiccup- you didn't think, you weren't careful, I leave you alone for one minute and this happens. But now, she couldn't find it in herself to keep blaming him. Some part of her was just altogether too sad and vulnerable at the moment, and she knew it would hurt to say those things to Hiccup. This damn mist was turning her soft.]
[Hiccup was unused to such declarations coming from anyone, much less Astrid. Normally he was blamed for everything, and a lot of the time he wouldn't argue with those sentiments. But someone else blaming themselves for what happened to him? Hiccup felt wildly uncomfortable.]
That--no. That doesn't...how do we even know for sure I was taken by the mist? I mean. [Ugh, words. Think about using them.] Whatever happened, I really, really doubt it was your fault.
[She steps closer to Hiccup, and when she speaks this time, it's quieter.]
Tell me what you've been seeing, Hiccup.
[After what Mulan told her, Astrid's been worried for Hiccup's mental health. Maybe she should have taken him to see someone when she had the chance. Still, this might be just the same as everyone else, right?
[Hard not to think about it when it's in your head and you can't block it out. But sure, Astrid. He'll try. It won't do anything but frustrate him, but he'll try.]
...you just sound out of it. [She grabs Hiccup by the shoulders and spins him around to face the other way, then starts walking. Without, uh, letting go of him. Enjoy being pushed along like a trolley, Hiccup!]

But I still wasn't here. You don't know that.
[Astrid decides to stop mumbling. It's embarrassing and for some reason, really upsetting her.]
Anyway, forget about that. I wanted to know if you were seeing things.

I...just a little bit. Maybe.
[And hearing things, but you didn't ask about that. And even if you did, he's not sure he'd tell the truth on that one.]

Somehow, that wasn't very comforting.]

It's just the mist messing with your head. Try not to think about it, you'll be fine.

Time to get moving.]
Good. Come on, let's go try and find out what's going on.

[He's going to try to distract himself... It hasn't worked very well yet, but he can damn well try! And try again. And again. Until it works.]
