[As if it weren't enough that he didn't know what was happening to Berk and all its residents. As if it weren't enough that Toothless was missing and probably in danger from the mist.
Hiccup can't help but be antsy. It's like someone is just behind him, telling him all the things he's screwed up, even now. The voice likes to change constantly, cycling between his father, Gobber, and a whole host of other Vikings he grew up around. Not to mention, he keeps seeing Toothless. The dragon appears in the corner of his vision, almost out of sight, but whenever Hiccup looks closer, approaches the area, there's nothing there. It's like he's being mocked now, and even though he knows it's not really Toothless, there's always this split-second moment when he first catches a glimpse where Hiccup thinks it's really him.
Between trying to get away from the voices and constantly trying to get to this not-Toothless, Hiccup's been walking around briskly, erratically. He is so distracted he barely keeps himself from tripping, although whether he will keep from walking straight into someone is another story altogether.]
