Music Teacher needs help with Music

How's that for a subject head?

I suppose I'm exploring unfamiliar territory here...but I'm looking for Popular Music as sung/played in lounges during 1930/40s Shanghai (上海滩) ? I'm thinking along the lines of (maybe) jazzy loungy numbers but in Mandarin! Maybe I can start with soundtracks on movies of that genre. Not even sure if it exists or some ( Read more... )

eh, there is a jazz album called Shanghai Jazz. Check that out.

its actually bordering techno rather than lounge but the remixes are quite nice nonetheless.

hmm i do listen to chinese oldies from the 1930s - the mid 1960s...

i have quite a number of the original cds too...
who's songs you wish to know more abt? perhaps i can tell u more..
