Bill Cosby was honest and he was lynched for it.

I would add that there is a distinction between technical expertise, industrial infrastructure and willingness to take risks.

If we had The Saturn V’s on the pad today, we would still never launch another Apollo. We roasted three astronauts that way after all.

We as a civilization are not willing to take risks, because we as a civilization are not willing to accept losses. The balance of importance has shifted. We as a civilization, are omniphobic to nonfunction.
