Reports from the Front

The Online Publishers Association have released the results from a survey conducted in February about viewing habits, as it applies to online video. (release, summary slideshow) From the information cited their methodology appears sound, but for some reason, I feel the summary numbers seem low. Out of 1241 weighted respondents, 5% say they watch ( Read more... )

I voted twice. I don't even live in Chicago.

I forgot that I do watch movie trailers from time to time so my first vote of "never" wasn't accurate.

The way LJ works, it just changes your first answer. I've found myself sometimes going back and giving a different response to some people's polls, but because it ties your response to the username (which is why non-ljers can't participate in any polls), it'll always just change the answer and won't let you vote twice. Plus, because you have to be logged-in, I guess it'd also limit the votes from Texas.

I'm familiar with the concept of throttling, but I've never been subjected to it, nor have I administered such a system. As you know, there are those who know about the ISD system, but some of them have already responded and I don't know if they'll revisit. With all that said and after adding that some of those that have already clicked are at much larger schools, which may not be throttling and it could be something that should be taken up with student government or the university; I will suggest that based on my limited knowledge, it makes theoretical sense that if you increased the cache on your video players, it might be an ad-hoc solution. It won't help you with streaming, but I know that some of them will let you go as far, as to download the whole snippet before it plays.

All in an effort to get you more porn...

I don't know what to say about the Linux. Way back in the mid-90s, I installed a downloaded version so that I could do some development in Perl, but that was a long time ago and the dearth of software was one of the arguments against it. Since then, I have worked with devices that operate on linux, but at the risk of getting hit with another round of tomatoes, I like the ease of being a sheep in the empire of the monopoly.

The website for the film must've been doing some maintenance because I couldn't connect in the wee hours. The video did load this go around and I was impressed by the quality, but I probably lean toward the dog walking scene because I like laughing at Yuppies.

This reminds me that I haven't watched adult content in a while.

Trust me, as you settle into married life and after a period of exuberance, you'll rediscover the proper mix.
