Holy fucking hell.

That had not gone according to plan. Technically Sanji hadn't planned any of this at all, had even done his best to avoid getting into situations like these but of course his shitty luck had to rear its ugly head once more. Months had gone by without so much as a chaste kiss and then that stupid fucking moss head had to walk in on them on the one night they slipped. It was fucking ridiculous.

Ridiculous and more than a little worrying. The look on Zoro's face promised bloodshed and the swordsman was definitely a man true to his word - there was no way they could avoid this conflict. He wasn't entirely sure why the damn marimo was making such a big deal out of it though, it wasn't the first time the cook had ended up with some gorgeous lady. And it wasn't as if this had anything to do with Umi-

Shit. Umi. If she found out ( ... )

"...isn't this fucking familiar. And just why are you so damn keen on giving me advice about the ladies? This is the exact reason why I called you insane, asshole."

Surreal, that was the word he was looking for. He had never imagined a day when Roronoa Zoro would be giving him a lecture on proper behavior when it came to dealing with women. The guy was practically asexual, had never shown the slightest interest in a girl before. And here he was telling Sanji what to do? Fucking hell ( ... )

He what?

If there was one thing Zoro wasn't going to accept, it was that Sanji backed off as some sort of.. pity. Sanji could call it consideration all he wanted, but it sure as hell felt more like a pity statement.

And here was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Without even a second thought, his arm shot up, raising Wadou Ichimonji to Sanji's throat.

It wasn't as if he was giving up all hope on Umi, and treating it as such wasn't something he was going to accept either. They would settle this like they settled everything else - the perpetual cock-measuring.

"Who the hell says it's 'not an issue anymore'?"

This was more like it. Stopping just a few inches from the tip of the blade Sanji braced himself, ready for battle. This was serious and he had every intention to show that bastard what kind of difference the journey from Alabasta to Skypiea really had made.

So much for being considerate, so much for going out of his way, so much for not messing with Zoro for once. It had taken a lot of energy and all he got for it was shit in return - no more of that. He liked Umi, a lot. If the stupid fucking moron couldn't take a chance when it was basically handed to him on a silver platter then Sanji was definitely not going to hold back anymore.

"Sounds just like you're giving me the go-ahead here. Giving up, shitty marimo?"

A shift in his stance, hands shoved deep into his pockets. The cook didn't have a bandanna to tie or a strawhat to keep safe, but the way he moved right now signified just how serious he was about the upcoming fight.

"Then you're the one who's goddamn insane!"

No. If there was one thing Zoro wasn't going to do, it was give up. He'd rather die... again than quit. It went against absolutely everything he stood for.

In a near instantaneous motion, all three swords had been drawn as he took his ready stance. His head lifted slightly, his eyes glowering in the shadows.

It all boiled down to one thing at this moment.

"I'll die before that happens."

"Bit too late for that, don't you think?"

This was it. Nothing left to say, no excuses or apologies good enough to stop the inevitable battle. Those three swords signified that Zoro was just as serious about this fight as he was - there was bound to be bloodshed and if they didn't watch their step someone could very well end up dead.

It didn't matter though. It had to be done. Discarding the burnt down cigarette butt with one smooth flick Sanji attacked, a fast, low sweeping motion aimed at the swordsmans legs. The snow made the street slippery and if he could keep his own balance while knocking that green-haired moron on his ass he'd get the upper hand in no time.

He didn't say anything in response - Zoro knew he didn't need to. It was fortunate for him that he'd fought with Sanji enough. He was familiar with his attack style and wasn't particularly surprised by the cook going for a low blow.

But Zoro had anticipated it. He had been ready for anything at this point. He made a quick, but slight dodge. It was enough not to take him out, but still left him close enough to Sanji to go in for a quick attack.

Normally, there was one warmup move he would have started with - but today was a different story.

The two swords in his hands raised, going just over the third sword as he lunched forward. "Tora Gari!"

He was out for blood, and starting with his normal, more signature move seemed out of the question.

Oh no, he wasn't going to go down that easily. The two of them had fought side by side enough in the past and even unexpected attacks were fairly easy to avoid - Sanji narrowly dodged the blow and immediately went on the offensive. He was still focused on the swordsman's legs, determined to make him lose his balance before resorting to more drastic measures.

There wasn't a scrap of hesitation in the cooks movements. In their previous fights he had always been holding back a little out of respect for their status as nakama, but those days seemed so far away now. This was about honor, setting the record straight, picking a winner. Where their spars had been fun and friendly there was nothing but blood thirst - from both of them.

He'd show that shitty marimo that there was more than one demon in that clan.

There was only so much Zoro could do that point. Even if he saw the move coming, there was little he could do to avoid the fact that Sanji had anticipated the move and was ready to counter. And it worked, sending the swordsman crashing towards the icy ground.

However, as he went down, he moved both arms swiftly and kept the sword in his mouth clenched tightly between his teeth. At the very least, he would make his attempt to nick Sanji in the process.

Success. He hadn't anticipated that last desperate attack though and there was no time to dodge - one of the swords left a shallow slice across his right shoulder and caused the blonde to lose momentum. Stumbling back a bit he cursed under his breath, hand clutched over the wound. It wasn't particularly deep but the fact that he hadn't seen it coming was more than enough to break his concentration.

Backing up a few steps Sanji smirked, a feral grin without a hint of pain or defeat. He still had a few tricks up his sleeve. Wiping his hand clean from blood he straightened himself up and prepared for the next attack.

Mission accomplished. All Zoro needed was a second to be able to recover himself. It was a move that hardly did any damage - but it sufficed. It bought Zoro enough time to be able to pull himself up from the ice. There was no way in hell he was going to let some good-for-nothing chef best him at his own fight.

No fucking way.

He used those few seconds he had to come up with a semi-cohesive plan. There were a couple of new techniques he had in his reserves should he need them - but he was hoping he'd be able to suffice with what he had in store.

But it was the chef's move, so he took a defensive stance. He knew what his next move would be when that time came.

Sanji didn't waste any time - the damn swordsman might be up on his feet but he wasn't going to stay there for long. Unleashing an initial kick aimed for Zoro's ribs Sanji used the momentum to flip up onto his hands, followed by a series of spins. Shins, thighs, ribs, neck... he made good use of his long reach and high speed, aiming a kick for every single opening he could find.

Even if he didn't hit or cause any significant damage it should at the very least wear the shithead down. Right now Sanji was fairly sure that he was the stronger of the two, not just because of the time difference but also because the constant lack of food in Discedo hadn't gotten to him yet.

This was more like it. This was where the real challenge was and quite frankly, more like what he expected of Sanji. It couldn't be denied - Sanji only having recently returned did give him an upper hand of sorts. At least in this regard. A constant barrage of attacks did wear on him a bit.

Zoro did as much as he could, using his swords to block the majority of the kicks. A few slipped by, and while they hadn't been enough to completely take him down, he could feel the effect of them. He wasn't down for the count though, eventually crossing his swords in the right place in order to push the chef away from him.

He wasn't holding back. Not that he was in the first place - but this time, he meant business. He held his swords in front of him, beginning to spin them at a furious pace - he was sure he wouldn't even have to say the name. Tatsu Maki spoke for itself.

That it did - by now the cook could recognize that particular attack almost anywhere. That didn't mean that he could always avoid it though, especially not with the handicap of not being on his feet. Desperately scrambling to get out of the way he pushed himself back but it wasn't enough - the attack hit him straight in the chest, sending a good amount of blood onto the pavement.

Coughing he backed up, tried to regain his balance and assess the damage. It hurt like a bitch and for a moment he felt just about ready to pass out from the sudden shock of being injured. Not that he would let something shitty like this take him down. Oh no.

It did look like he needed to bring out the big guns though. He had only used this particular attack in battle once before but that should be more than enough preparation. Gritting his teeth against the pain Sanji glared at the shitty moss head before crouching down. This required excellent timing and with the slippery ground he had to be extremely careful.

Zoro had a small air of gratification as he watched the attack connect. There was something absurdly satisfying right then about seeing Sanji's blood splatter, staining the snow around them a deep shade of red.

Probably more so than it should have, but he really couldn't help himself. After knowing what he knew... seeing what happened and hearing Sanji's words to him just a few minutes before - it felt good.

It didn't last long though. He saw the way Sanji moved - the way he was standing signified that something was up. He watched cautiously, doing his best to anticipate whatever it was he was going to do.

If Zoro had known any better he would get moving right about now. Sanji couldn't help but smirk when he saw that the moron was just waiting for the blow - this would be satisfying in more than one way.

And then he moved, lightning fast despite the icy ground, sending himself off the ground and into an airborne spin. This was the tricky part, the last time he had used it Luffy had been there to keep his target still. If Zoro figured out what he was about to do...

"CONCASSÈ!"

The attack was aimed at the swordsman's shoulder rather than his head - despite his current rage Sanji had no intention of killing him again. Even so there was a significant amount of power behind it, crashing down like a small tidal wave.
