Patient? Not exactly. Beat certainly didn't realize he had agreed to something so formal, and definitely not that Seifer would be his future "boss" of sorts. But, still, whenever he catches his "leader" wince every know and then, Beat takes a small step up to close the gap between them as he follows, just a quiet safeguard to know the man wouldn't pass out or something. He was getting pretty good at spotting the signs after surviving (though, it couldn't really be called that if he was dead, now could it?) three weeks in a Reaper's Game.

Man, this place was no less creepy than a fake Shibuya where 89% of the population couldn't see you. Here, everyone could see you, and that included all the monsters. Noise were practically walking tattoos, and Beat had thought he'd seen some strange things, but as they rounded corners and came face-to-face with things that snarled or dripped or just plain looked freaky, Beat suddenly felt a little uneducated ( ... )

"You mean me?" There's a smug voice from the downstairs apartment, first open door to the right of the front hall, which has a second floor landing and a sturdy crawlnet where a dismantled staircase used to be, along with a firepole cemented to the chunk that's been taken out of the floorboards.

And then a silver-haired boy appears, around Seifer's age and built just as athletic if not moreso, gnawing on what looks like a jerky chew pouched in one side of his mouth.

Sea-green eyes size the two up for a moment.

"Seifer, this your new-" And then he gets his first real look at his resident's bruised up condition, blinking dubiously. "Oh hey, you did get pretty knocked around!" But enough of that casual observation, its the newer face he's keener and honing in on critically, stepping forward. "This the guy you're telling me about who's gonna crash here? Beat is it ( ... )

Seifer just continued to walk. The pain was getting to him a bit more than he had first thought, but he just continued to ignore it. After all, his new flunky--or member, or whatever Beat was--was right behind him, so he couldn't show too much weakness. Leaders weren't weak, after all. He turned to Beat and shrugged slightly. "Gohl's better, population-wise. I hear they've got murderers in the other places ( ... )

"... Comfortin'," came the off-hand remark through taut lips. Not only could you get killed from monsters, but the other inhabitants might kill you, too. Wonder-motherfucking-ful.So Beat just sort of stood there awkwardly as the other two debate or whatever it is they do, the camaraderie hey seemed to have unspoken, a simmering respect. It made him think of Neku absently, wondering if he's ever been here, ever thought about this place, ever wanted to spray paint these cracked walls or dusty abscesses ( ... )

Hayner could hear voices downstairs, and while trying not to be excited about a new roommate, he was jogging out of the room and to the stairs. Slowing himself about halfway down the stairs, Hayner snorted as he watched Seifer shuffle his way towards the couch.

"Hey, you already tired from the little stroll it takes to get from the clinic here?" Hayner called out, leaning over the railing a little bit before continuing down the steps.

Really he was just teasing, since he knew Seifer was still injured. Frankly, Hayner was surprised Seifer even dragged himself back this soon.

Glancing over his shoulder, Seifer gave Beat a nod. "Got it," he said. He most likely wasn't going to shout, at least not yet; maybe later when he was fully capable and chose not to. Plus, Prydain was a much better tour guide of this place. He smirked at Prydain's antics, and just headed to the couch, pausing briefly.

Hayner had come down, bothersome as always. Seifer's pride was starting to challenge him to take the walk up all those flights of stairs, but he knew if he collapsed on them, he'd have a hell of a time living down the embarrassment of needing assistance the whole way up. Or sleeping on the stairs; yep, he'd probably do that instead.

But the couch was a lot more comfortable in the long run, so he merely rolled his eyes, walked over, and plopped down onto it, arms stretching out on the backrest. "Shut it, chicken wuss," he muttered. "Oh, Beat gets your bed. I'm demoting you to the floor."

Oh he knew that little statement had challenged Seifer's pride, and Hayner really wouldn't've let him live down needing help or outright sleeping there on the stairs.

So when Hayner finished walking down the stairs and trailing towards the couch to bother Seifer, he hadn't expected his bed to be taken away.

"Wh-...what?! You can't do that!" Frowning and stomping over the remainder of the way to the couch, he stood over Seifer with a glare, arms crossing. "What makes you think you have the right to dump me on the floor?!"

"O-Okay," He replied to Prydain hesitantly as he listened to what all he had to say. Blue for water, right. Old man for heat, gotcha. Couch for Beat would be get. Meatstrips, ew. "Hunting?" That one he actually vocalized. So this was ... that kind of place, where you had to completely fend for yourself. As much as Beat argued with his parents, he was ... more or less used to having the simplicities handed to him.

It made him worry even more about Rhyme.

"Sure. He needsta get some rest, anyway. Came out 'n' found me when I was in tha middle'a nowhere." Reckless bastard, he wanted to say, but part of him knew he owed Seifer big-time ( ... )
