The events of the day had left Sorata feeling anxious and exhausted, things he wanted to do - often contradictory - piling up against things he couldn't, facts he couldn't change, worries he couldn't avoid. He'd told Shinji he might be late - but he'd caught himself, a few hours later. Not moping, but preparing for a fight. A... conflict. Just what he'd been trying to avoid since arriving here.

- Well, idiots are idiots are idiots. He'd shaken himself out of it as fast as he could, having work to do, and had been throwing himself into the last minute cooking and arranging with furious concentration. He was finally finished - for now, until it ran out and he had to refill the platters - and had emerged from the back to join in the party. Sure, he was quieter than he normally would have been... but who wasn't?

Jackie and Nani had herded some of Discedo's children around for trick-or-treating. It vaguely occurred to him that if it was the end of October already, November would be coming up -

He decided to concentrate on the kids being cute and on not tripping over his costume.

"Your Lord has arrived, Shinji."

Despite his gloomy mood, a snicker caught in his throat when 'faux jesus' walked into the bar, a crowd of children at his less-than-holy heels.

Damn. That joke went pretty far..

He smirked down at the kiddies before reaching behind the bar, and grasping a huge basket full of candy.

"C'mon. Say the magic words.." He'd dangle it over their smaller heads.

And then, to Jackie. "Where the hell's my green wine?"

"Your green wine is not here til I get my Jesusly powers back," he replied, smiling. It was nice to smile, and see other people smiling. The last few days had had their share of shitty situations - but why let life beat the crap out of them? He was gonna live it up. Live for her.

"I brought you a pumpkin. That's all I got."

"You'd better deliver on that." A smirk ghosted onto his face--not a genuine smile, but he couldn't force one at the moment. Still--looking around at the people, he felt a quiet confidence in his decision to keep the party going.

"Well thanks. I'll deal with that.. so enjoy the food."

Saber had positioned herself by the door, sea-green eyes vigilant for potential trouble. It appeared to her that the recent events had set the entire city on edge, and in such times, anything could happen. Her hands rested on the pommel of Excalibur, sheathed within Avalon, and her pose was only slightly relaxed. Thus, she could draw her sword and drop into a fighting stance with relative ease.

In truth, she felt more comfortable acting as a guard than attempting to relax, and it was for her own reassurance more than anyone else's that she took up the duty. Always needing to do something, even in times when the labours of others have ceased, Arturia could never completely lower her guard. This evening was no different than any other.

Johnny was just sitting in his own world. The band's songs drifted through his mind, in one ear and out the other, and it sounded like they were close to being done. Not that it really mattered to the blond. His attention was focused on his glass of gin. He knew drinking too much would probably make him feel like crap tomorrow, but tomorrow Grace would be back. Just for now, in the meantime--

when she was dead because he'd relaxed too much and gotten careless--

He took a gulp of the drink, ignoring the bitterness. Right now, he just needed to blot everything out.

Of course Pan, after the fit she'd thrown, had shown up to the party, even after things started happening that took the fun out of being spiteful. Like most people, she'd heard about what had happened - even though she didn't know many, or really, any of the details...

She wasn't sure of herself. She didn't know what to say, or do, or how - or really, even if she was wanted. And that was forgetting the language barrier. But then again... when had she ever hesitated? Right! Never! So - so...

So... she slowly approached the spot Johnny was sitting at, rehearsing what she wanted to say. It wasn't much but she didn't exactly speak much English... "Hello," she said, nervous, like she was reciting a lesson, painfully aware of how strong her accent must be. "How - are... you?"

Johnny looked to the side, slightly surprised by hearing Pan's voice in English. His first thought was that she couldn't have any idea what had happened with a question like that, but then he noticed her nervous expression. She'd heard.

"Getting better," he lied, trying a smile. "She'll be at the hospital tomorrow."

Pan didn't understand the whole sentence, but she know hospital, and she knew what she'd heard around the network. And she could see Johnny, too, and that was enough of a giveaway. He was drinking, too, ugh.

She bit her lip, and took a moment to think up the word in English: "Sorry."

Ari arrived like he said he would. Though, now he was thinking of trick or treating and doing the games that he had heard about. But, he had said he would come, and he was sure Shinji needed someone and well... why should he bother. If he had done anything else it would have been the wrong thing to do no matter what. Anyway, he was pretty sure Demyx would torture him if he wasn't there for at least one of their songs.

He arrived in a sheet with holes in it. It seemed appropriate to dress up in costumes and that was the simplest one to do, and fit him. Though he was dressed up as one, it didn't help him when walking through the city, the city was still more frightening then he was.

Alice was just waiting for Yuri for a few moments when she noticed the ghost nearby. Of course, the "bedsheet" ghost hardly resembled the beings she exorcised, but it still seemed like a cute costume to her. "Happy Halloween!" she called to him. "Are you having fun?"

He jumped a little, he wasn't expecting anyone to speak to him unless it was Shinji. He stood there for a moment trying to think of something to say. Well, saying yes might be good, but was that true? Maybe saying no... but, that wasn't true either.

After several minutes of awkward silence he chose a shrug. It was the best he could do, and wasn't exactly recognizable from under the sheet. It looked more like a funny shuffle or weird movement.

"I guess," he said softly pausing a moment. "Happy Halloween," his tone was meek and he sounded like the sort to be easily bossed around.

His answer didn't seem very enthusiastic, and Alice asked, "Are you bored?", tilting her head to the side. She didn't have much to do at the moment, herself, so she was just looking around to keep herself entertained. "What do you think of the music?"
