Augh, this is so good. I'm not even sure what comment I want to leave other at least just saying that I absolutely loved it. It was hard to take in bits because goddamn do I relate to this postgrad setting with the student loans and the group of friends where some have well paid marketing jobs and others are eh and others still are lost and bumbling. Ow ow ow, fuck it was so good. The whole tone and the characterization and city details. I swear I speak coherently usually. Your stuff just always has this mood about it and it's my favorite to read and then your characters are amazing and I just. I'm going to read this again later but I had to comment now.
I'm so so glad to hear that you thought this worked! That's amazing that you could relate to the setting, and, yay! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! (and for commenting right away, because I'm always the MOST nervous right after I post a story). Thank you so much!!!
I'm so glad the bit with Niall in his suit worked for you! I spent forever thinking about that, actually, haha. I love the idea of Niall as this disarmingly and secretly competent person, and wanting to write that scene was a huge reason why I actually wrote the story. Wasn't sure if it worked outside of my head, so it is reassuring that you thought it was okay!
Thank you so so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment! I really appreciate it! ♥
that was utterly brilliant. I love the way you switched between the two main storylines. I love your Niall - how blase and unaffected he seems about everything but then confronts Harry to get his point across. Loved the way Zayn and Louis built up their relationship too and how Louis came to terms with everything. LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!
This was really hard to read (hit a little too close to home: somewhat directionless twentysomething with an alarming pile of dirty dishes and neglected recycling), but so worth it. It's quiet and delicate where other writers might have gone ott and dramatic, and I love that. It's so real, all the feelings and the fears and the daily shit people face when they're supposed to start growing up but can't stop thinking or behaving like the kids they use to be in college. I think my favorite part, besides your characterization of Niall (so nuanced and perfect, seriously), was Louis saying he's too old to still be learning new things about himself. And then of course Zayn's reaction, ha. I have that entire conversation in my head far too often.
Anyway, this is beautiful and sharp and funny and sad and it made me miss visiting Toronto (haven't been since I moved from Michigan to Chicago) and I'm going to control myself and not even ask if you've been working on anything featuring Ziall.
Oh, wow, thank you so much. This is such a lovely comment! I'm really glad that you thought it worked and that it was worth the "hard" bits.
Not currently working on anything, whoops, but I certainly LOVE Zayn/Niall, so who knows! Niall is actually a ton of fun to write (and he and Zayn have incredible chemistry)... >:)
Your stories are so easy to read. The flow is always so slow and smooth. Just enough emotion and feeling to get from one moment to another. Louis and Harry both slowing realizing what is happening around them, and then easing right into Zayn and Niall. Loved this one.
Oooh, that's such an amazing complement, wow! I was a little worried that it might be difficult for readers to get into this story (because, like you said, all of the realizations happen quite slowly), so it is a tremendous relief that you thought it flowed okay. MANY MANY THANKS FOR COMMENTING, I SUPER APPRECIATE IT!!!!!
