the wwii memorial is great to see at night. although I don't know if it's quite the same in the winter? check out our dc pictures from our trip and maybe you'll see something worth seeing.

I know that Cousin Dan would highly recommend the Czech Republic. I think you could go any number of places that would be awesome. Maybe you should throw a dart or something. The important thing is to try not to do to much, and try not to take overnight trains. :)

It might also be recommended to find a travel companion in some of those countries. You could always look up my friend Perry (www.wheresperry.com). He's awesome and might be willing to travel with you for awhile. He's been wandering Europe for the last 3 years or so. Looks like he's in Portugal right now.

As far as a camera, I recommend going to the library and checking out consumer reports. (Since you're training to be a librarian, you should be able to hunt down the right issue. :) ) Then, if you don't find enough info there, I'd write down their top 2 or 3 models in your price range and go to http://www.dpreview.com, look up the review of your camera and then go the "Conclusions" section of the review to read a summary of what they thought of it.
