It's the ficciest time of the year

I've been away for the holidays, and have barely scratched the surface of Yuletide, but have a few recs in the fandoms I have read that I wanted to post before the reveal:

Sports Night

Firstly, I got two gorgeous Sports Night fics that feature Dan Rydell's pain front and centre, in Holiday Spirit (1,500 words, no warnings) and Pinch Hitter (1,300 ( Read more... )

Aw, I think S60 is far better than Sports Night, and does many things well (thought Matt and Danny's friendship is the best). But, aww, *hugs* S60. I probably would have read this fic if there wasn't (as it seems from the header) Matt/Danny slash, because I just can't get behind it or really...believe it for those characters, which is a shame because there's so little fic out there for this fandom. *le sigh*

The S60 fic is really one of the only things that might suck me into Yuletide one day (which I've only never done because I write so few fandoms, and most of them aren't considered "small").

There were a lot of things that I liked about Studio 60. I loved 'Nevada Day', which I think was the show at its finest. I love Harriet, and her relationship with Matt. I love Tom and Simon, and all the sparkly banter. I loved the meta-ness of it all, and the Allison Janney episode, and her talking about Christine Lahti when Christine Lahti was in it, and The West Wing chat ( ... )

I...loved Danny and Jordan. Heh. To be fair, I think most people more or less stalk people they find themselves in love with at first. And, yeah, he embarrassed her and unknowingly and unintentionally compromised her, professionally. But he was told about it, and stopped. As to the medical treatment, there seemed to be some instances when she was not really able to take care of her medical treatment herself--once the surgery starts; she's never fully conscious or aware, according to the doctor, until we see her again. And, I don't know, I never saw Danny's behavior (the bad form with the whole "references" thing aside) as damaging, and struck me as pretty real in terms of the crazy things a lot of people do (and not unhealthily) when they fall in love. *shrug* I never found it offensive or bothersome in any kind of major way. But I know a lot of people don't like their whole...thing. The only complaint I really have about it is that I wish there had been more time for it, since I thought it was a bit rushed ( ... )
