in a way, yes.

sungyeol is some what incredibly insecure of his relationship with myungsoo. (the big clothes) he needs a constant reminder of that myungsoo still loves him (the bruises) and since their relationship is made up of abuse anyway (yes the bruises were made by myungsoo) sungyeol simply cuts himself so that his feelings won't disappear. and it worked, though he ended up getting hurt more by myungsoo. (but it just proves more that the only way they could stay together is by sungyeol getting hurt.)

to sum it up sungyeol needs something to assure himself of their relationship and the only way to do that (according to him) is by cutting.
