Stel and I tried this little move this morning at off leash. Very cool little move. Wrapping the dog around behind you (really a send) around the back of the jump and picking dog up on other side after you are outta there ( Read more... )

Except Finnish is a horrible language. Seriously, doesn't sound like anything and you probably won't be able to make any word associations even if you know German. You are going to need the sound down.

Obviously a fantastic handler, but the one thing that bugs me about her is her "airplane arms". Really, even more than most European handlers, she's more active with her arm cues. The dog clearly understands her cues, but watching her, both her arms are so often straight out to the side and slightly down that I have trouble figuring out which side of her body she is even cuing sometimes. That's why I have termed her the "airplane arms" handler. Maybe she knows something the rest of us don't? (Or probably knows A LOT that the rest of us don't).

Oh yeah I clocked that about the arms. Must be for balance with those quick changes of velocity and direction? But I also noticed her arm cues are these perfectly timed quick air-slicing single motions the dogs must be radar zoomed in on. Dogs maybe see that quick motion much better than more static pointing?? There are worse things to be called than airplane arms handler. ; ) like flyingbytheseatmypants handler - I can't believe I am trialing again this weekend without having been to classes all winter

Having this video go so slowly with really good analysis makes it possible to try some of these moves at home. Good for you Dinah! I saved the video to my favorites.
