I finally read Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising Sequence a few weeks ago after I heard they were movie-fying them. (They were always "one of those books that I knew about, but never got around to reading." I come bearing bad news. Walden Media, the makers of the Dark is Rising movie, have essentially declared war on the fans of the book. The screenwriter is quoted as saying " I think some of that sort of, the pre-Christian element or the Arthurian stuff isn't really in the script." They've cut the heart and soul out of the story and replaced it with a lot of pointless violence. I could cry.

That's awful! And they did so well with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, too....

How can they cut out the Arthurian stuff? That's, like, the whole plot!
I sometimes suspect that movie people don't actually read the books they make films out of.

I did read that they've given Max a larger role... I hate it when they change characters' roles. Seriously, people, the books were written that way for a reason...
