Sherlock's death and John. The viewers knew Sherlock was very much alive but John didn't. John was devastated and it was heartbreaking to watch.

(No worries, you didn't spoil me. I've been in fandom circles long enough that I'm pretty spoiled. I just wanted to watch a murder mystery, got bored with the ones I'd been watching, and tried Sherlock.)
