A Sticky Situation?

I'm actually surprised that Allied forces have launched strikes into Libya. It seems like it may put the U.S. and other Western countries in a delicate position with other totalitarian regimes who are our "allies"--such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Yemen. I think Obama's strong statement will serve as a warning to other nations. This man is firm but fair, tough and underestimated. Contrary to Newt Gingrich, Obama does exactly what TR recommended: he speaks softly (hence the underestimating) and carries a big stick ( ... )

Somehow I can't picture either the King of Bahrain or the House of Saud "reversing course before it's too late". I hope I'm wrong on that point. But these are very stubborn, egocentric, power-hungry people.

I also don't think the protest movements in either of those countries are going away.

I've been finding CNN International to be not-unwatchable, if you have access to it. I can't cope with any of the national channels either.

CNN's been OK. I've mostly been sticking to the BBC, Al Jazeera English, Twitter, online news, etc. It seems like local news on the West Coast is worse than it was in NC for some reason as far as the mayhem and "bake sale journalism" factors.
