A Sticky Situation?

I'm actually surprised that Allied forces have launched strikes into Libya. It seems like it may put the U.S. and other Western countries in a delicate position with other totalitarian regimes who are our "allies"--such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Yemen. I can't help but wonder what would happen if a similar brutal crackdown on protesters were to happen in these other countries.

For some reason, I actually turned on the local news this evening. That didn't go well; please don't let me do that again. With a nuclear crisis in Japan and the U.S. bombing Libya, the endless string of fluffy "human interest" stories made me want to throw things at the TV. It's really no wonder that people in other countries think Americans are idiots who don't have a clue about what's going on in the rest of the world.

Speaking of Japan, I realized I haven't written anything here about that situation. I don't even know what to say--the whole situation is incredibly heartbreaking.
