I would've replied to your entry over at firebolt, but that would reveal the comment, and yes, that obviously equals fail.
According to what the quote looks like from the actual book (American Edition, anyway), there actually aren't too many spaces. Whoever decided in the beginning that they would use absolutely not traditional ellipses has at least made that use consistent through all the books.
ETA: I'm totally not going to be anal about ... vs . . . ., but I just wanted to point out why I set up the puzzle that way.
Aha. That would explain it. For the first two comments, I had book access, but now I'm flying blind, just me, Google-fu, and the boxes, and most of the time it's transcribed with the traditional, rather than the spaced.
