It's starting to effect me. Because everyone I have ever known uses photobucket, and no not everyone has 400 dollars a year to give to them... WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

I've been seeing people say about photobucket for a few days now but *touch wood* mine seems unaffected? Is there a pattern to it at all?

Do you have a paid membership?

Maybe they've just not come for you yet?

I've no idea, lol.

Nope, just a standard free one. I think I'm just lucky that mine isn't high traffic enough for them to have "got to" yet =/

Butting in but it was about a week from when I first heard about it to when my pics broke. My albums are private and I can still access them but I know some people have said they can't even do that. I think the first people who noticed were those who use it for say Ebay. Public and probably "heavy" users as well.

The only membership option that allows third party linking is the $400 one. TBH I think they're insane.

Here's a pretty good link about the situation.

Man that sucks! I came across a few of these recently while browsing for art, and I didn't understand it, so thanks to torino10154 for posting the link with explanation.

I thought that I was able to view some of the hijacked files by going directly to the photobucket webpage (which is atrocious) but that doesn't seem to be working for the images you linked to.

What a clusterfuck.

I heard about this problem from some people who use photobucket on Merlin chatzy. I didn't really understand what was going on then, and I don't think I really do fully comprehend what is going on now.

It seems ridiculous to me that they are asking members to pay such ridiculous fees just to get their account/pictures back. How is that fair to the members that have been using that site over the years? It baffles me, to be honest.

I never used it but have run into broken links all over the place now (DIY tutorials for wallpaper removal and other repair work). It's irritating.

I gave up photobucket years ago but I'm worried about Flickr and Tumblr as well. Verizon isn't known for being kind to not-much-profit enterprises and they just bought them from Yahoo.
