It all started when my doctor told me to try eating flax seed flour. Multiple allergic reactions and many doses of Benadryl later I was too tired to stay up for the Tonys. It was the first time I've missed the west coast live broadcast in many years ( Read more... )

I have no desire to see "Spring Awakening." I just don't go for shows that think it is 'artistic' to have every other word be profain. Poor Lea Michele, what would Tateh say?

LOL. I'm not surprised she did SA in favor of the Les Miz revival, though. (Especially now that I've actually seen the revival.)

=) Yeah, most everything I've heard about the revival has been less than stellar.

I like Spring Awakening, but I thought their Tony performance was pretty gratuitous and "oh, tee hee, look what we're getting away with singing". For a show that has a lot of songs, most of which are profanity-free, it seemed ridiculous that they performed both of the two that definitely aren't. On one hand, yeah, that's part of the show. But they could've picked something else to sing that would have given a better idea of what the show is like.

And Company was by far the best performance. I wish everyone would keep it that simple; there's no need to sing a big medley and have everyone in the cast onstage.

Well that's the Tonys for you.

I don't mind shows that choose to do medleys. Some do them quite artistically. But others it just seems like they are trying too hard to sell the show by cramming too much into too short of space.
