It might have been "just Sporting Lisbon", but they qualified for the Champions League and passed the group stage, so they're one of the 16 best teams in Europe, at least on paper. Of course, Bayern's victory was never doubtful, but I wouldn't have expected it to be that high. They could have lost 4-0 and would still have advanced to the quarterfinals, like last season in the UEFA Cup where they scored 5 goals against Anderlecht in the first leg and then lost the second leg 2-1. But they showed good morale against Sporting, gave everything, and even managed to top the already brilliant first leg result. People always praise Barcelona for the amount of goals they score, and say that the Bundesliga is a weak league, but not even Barça managed 12 goals in this last 16, and Lyon weren't much stronger than Sporting in this round.

so well done, bayern, especially considering they won without their "stars" - luca toni and franck ribéry.It's funny how recent results prove that Bayern are better without them. The other teams have become used ( ... )
