Some news and I just love this video...

I have to tell you my Muse has finally paid a visit, and I am writing again on my omnibus novel Broken Pieces since I decided I might try self-publishing via Amazon Kindle. Chapter 5 is going nicely and I am so happy about it even if only a few people check this one out after it's done. I feel I need to put it out there. Having work I am proud of ( ( Read more... )

Yay for writing again. I feel the same way about Swedish, I think for me though because I've mainly written in English, the language seems more natural to write in for me, and if I were to write in Swedish I would have to spend a fair amount of time thinking about which words to use to say what I wanted to say, when in English I know the word already.

That video was impressive, and strong and a bit uncomfortable, especially when realising the colours was probably meant to represent bruises. But it was beautifully done and I don't even want to know how long they had to practice to get all the moves right!

Good to hear you feel the same :-) I do not want to come across as hating my mother tongue, because I really don't - it just doesn't feel... me, for some reason.

Happy to hear you liked the video!

I think Swedish can be a really beautiful language, but when I write, I prefer to do it in English. There's been some "argument" about that, Swedish vs English for NaNoWriMo at the Swedish forum, by someone who was all up in arms because he thought people considered English to be a more diverse language, and he was utterly against it - which is ridiculous. I think a lot of languages have a lot of diversity and a lot of beauty and a lot of phrases and words that just don't work well if you translate them, but it should be about which language you feel most comfortable writing in - or, which language the story you are writing works better using. For instance, however more comfortable I am with writing in English, I do have a story idea that would only work if I wrote it in Swedish (at least first) because there's a boardgame I want to use, for the title and in the story, and it only works in Swedish. At least it works best in Swedish.

So it's something to think about too.
