It was hard not to wonder when he put his costume-uniform-thing-whatever together what, exactly, he was thinking.
"Why did you throw in the skirt?"
"What?" Gene asked, surprised.
"the skirt. Why did you decide to wear a skirt? Your legs looked wonderful in the leather and now you look like a misguided cross-dresser."
He narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips. "It is not a skirt. It is a kilt."
She shook her head. "No. A kilt is generally Scottish and has some significance. That is a two-colored skirt."
He sighed. "It is a kilt and I’m keeping it."
"Do what makes you feel good," she replied on her way out the door. "It’s still a skirt."
