"We should go out. How does Saturday night sound?"
"Sounds good, Billy. I’ll pick you up."

He moaned and trembled beneath Teddy. The shapeshifter watched him, fascinated. Their eyes locked. He shivered. Teddy pushed deeper.

"So I guess we’re going to graduate soon."
"I’m surprised they let us back in."
"So negative."
"So honest."
"What do we do then?"
"I dunno… Move in together?"
"Despite the teasing I sense in the air, that actually doesn’t sound like a horrible idea."

"Teddy, I promise it’s just a sprain," Billy said.
"I still think you should get it looked at," Teddy protested, examining the spellcaster’s ankle. "Something might be fractured. And anyway, you fell down the stairs. Something else could be hurt and we just don’t know it yet."
He was kneeling at Billy’s feet, slowly coming to terms with the fact that Billy would not go to the hospital if Billy did not think it was a problem. Growing up with a doctor, he supposed.
Billy reached down to run his fingers through Teddy’s hair.
"Hey, I’m just worried. It’s like I love you, or something," Teddy said.

"Marry me."
"Huh?"
"Marry me."
"Y’know, that’s just a little illegal in a good majority of the United States, including dear old New York."
"Don’t worry about that. It doesn’t matter. Just say, ‘yes’."
There was a long pause.
"Fine, then. Yes."

Teddy sighed. Maybe they should quit superheroing.
It was the third time in as many months that he found himself in the hospital, waiting for Billy to come out. And this time, they were talking about keeping him.
A nurse beckoned him. He followed her down the longest hallway he’d ever been in. She left him outside a room with ‘Kaplan’ on the nameplate outside the door.
Great. He’d been admitted. Teddy shook his head and went in, knowing before he said it how his plea would be met.
