He liked to watch the way the light played on Billy’s hair. Given just the right angle, it made it shine blacker than black and, depending on the time of day, would fade gently into red or blue.
More often than not, it was red that Teddy noticed.
Sometimes he wondered if it were odd for him to sit and watch Billy sleep.
Sometimes he wondered if it were odd that he changed shape, too, though.
He knew the answer to both and didn’t care as Billy’s eyes fluttered open and he blearily blew his alarm clock to bits.
"Hey, babe."
"Mphr."
Billy rolled over onto his stomach, revealing sharp shoulderblades and a long, smooth back. Teddy grinned to himself and reached out to run his fingers over the bumps of his spine in a way he knew would make Billy squirm.
Billy obliged and groaned, hiding his head under the pillow.
