069: Yours
He wrapped his arms around her and traced random lines on her with a finger. He shivered and woke up.
"Dale?" she mumbled.
"Mm."
He pressed his lips to the back of her neck and breathed in her scent in his half-awake state. She sighed and tried to dispel her nightmares.
It was foolish to think that the man beside her, whose first words to her as her husband had been, "I am yours, completely and totally,’ would go back to his old habits. They’d only been married a couple of weeks. She was sure she had nothing to fear.
But still…
She nestled back against him, dragging him accidentally out of sleep.
"What’s the matter?"
She shook her head. He didn’t believe her.
"Nightmares?"
She nodded. He shook the sleep from his head and flipped her onto her back with as mischievous a grin as he could manage.
"Oh, Dale," she said with a roll of her eyes.
"You don’t want to?" he asked, mildly put out.
"I never said that!"
