"Dale, would you tell me how we wound up underground?"
Dale looked around at the cave. The walls and ceiling were shored up. It was dark outside of the light the portico emitted, but from his observations, he guessed they were in
"A mine shaft."
"What?"
"We’re in a mine shaft."
She gave him an odd look. "I thought we were going to Liberia in 3031."
"And, apparently, Liberia had a lot of mine shafts in 3031."
She quirked an eyebrow and chewed her lip. "Wasn’t there an explosion about this time?"
Dale thought hard. "I don’t know."
They both stopped and looked up at a rumble to their left. Then:
"Get us out of here!"
Dale had already flipped the switch.
