Yesterday was Sunday. In every civilized country on Earth, that means that workers take a day of well-deserved rest.

But not Japan. Yesterday I had to work. Of course, it wasn't real work. They sent me out to a park with some of the kids and we spent a few hours picking up trash. Down by the river. It was actually an amusing diversion. Especially ( Read more... )

That's interesting, considering all that jazz we had to go through about transitioning Japan to a five-day work week in senior Japanese. Do you usually have to work Sunday?

This is the first time I've worked on a Sunday. But I'm required to work on Saturdays (for special things) once every few months or so.

Only because it was a "demonstration lesson." Parents came to watch. Most days I wear something similar to a track suit. That's what all the teachers wear.
