Look over there!
Yesterday was Sunday. In every civilized country on Earth, that means that workers take a day of well-deserved rest.
But not Japan. Yesterday I had to work. Of course, it wasn't real work. They sent me out to a park with some of the kids and we spent a few hours picking up trash. Down by the river. It was actually an amusing diversion. Especially when the elementary school kids showed up.
To them, I was a mysterious monster from another world. But they were cute, and they all managed to get out something in English to say to me. I wish I was an elementary school teacher; they're a lot more fun to deal with.
So anyway, it wasn't the trash picking that bothered me about yesterday. After it was all over I had to go back to school, sit for four hours, change into a suit. and then spend 45 minutes teaching hyperactive kids how to say "bathroom."
It's a damn good thing they pay me so well.
