Heh, I get sicker if I get the shot, so I don't bother anymore. It was a requirement when I was working on the ambulance... but now, feh. I don't bother anymore. I think after all that time being an EMT gave me a cast iron immune system. :)
Did you get the H1N1? I wanted to wait until next week before I got the free shots...iI have a thing I am going to tonight and just in case it made me feel weird I didn't want to deal with it!
But I've never gotten the flu shot unless my folks got them for me as a kid!
My roommate and I got our flu shots at Costco, and we both had very sore shoulders the next day. I also had my injection site bleed a tiny bit, and that has never happened before.
I got a flu shot but not the H1N1 since it's in such short supply. Sadly I seem to catch just about everything and H1N1 is spreading quite a bit. I can't afford go get sick since it means time off without pay.
It would only be a "booster" if a flu shot gave you some sort of long-term immunity against the disease as a whole, but it doesn't. Influenza mutates so fast that every year it's a different strain coming around that you aren't immune to, period. So, like most people, you've been lucky for the last 12-13 years. Me, I never got a flu shot before last year, and after I'm done working in health care, will likely never get one again. I've also never contracted the flu. :-)
