Bullet points:
  • My Grandmother had a severe stroke sometime yesterday or the night before; she's now stable and (we assume) cognizant, but she's got a lot of paralysis and she hasn't been able to communicate. The doctors haven't said anything yet about what the situation is, what sort of meaningful recovery she might make, what sort of awareness she ( Read more... )

So sorry to hear about your grandmother--it's really hard to see someone you love in that condition. I hope it turns out the best way it can.

Thank you. I will. I must be taking care -- you can tell when I'm in really bad shape when I just use the default icon everywhere.

I'm really sorry about your grandmother, I hope things work out in the best possible way, whatever that may be. I know for me it makes a big difference if the person I'm concerned about isn't afraid. It's good that she's ready for her next time around.

Thank you. I just don't see things improving for standard definitions of improvement, and it's a little strange hoping for what standard definitions have as being the worst.

Bubbele, when did you ever go by the standard definitions? I have a feeling everyone in this kind of situation feels conflicted, but most aren't so willing to admit to it. You're entitled to all your various feelings about your grandmother & the condition she's in, & also to our sympathy. No graciousness required, or guilt either.

I'm glad you allowed comments. I'm sorry about your grandmother's stroke. I hope things go as best they can for her, whatever that may mean.

I always do. Wait, why is everyone so skeptical about that?
