VENKMAN (shrugs) I guess they don't build them like they used to, huh?
STANTZ No! Nobody ever built them like this! The architect was either an authentic whacko or a certified genius. The whole building is like a huge antenna for pulling in and concentrating psychokinetic energy.

"Antenna." Yeah, that's of what I was thinking! I bow to your superior internet search abilities.

I am glad it was what you wanted. But, you shouldn't bow; I did't find it googling.

Do you think I would like Doom Patrol?

I still bow no matter how you found it.

I think you'd like Doom Patrol. It plays with a lot of art history and philosophy (as well as anagrams and acrostics).

Following your example, I'm trying to track down the third volume of New X-Men.

Is that true about Gaudi?

In the sense that all cathedrals (mosques, synogogues, churches, temples) are designed to gather (together, in one place, people's) spiritual energies and broadcast them (out to others/up to God), it is true of Gaudi. In the sense that La Sagrada Familia could be used as it is in the comic, to build a counter-vibration against the mystical harmonics of the Decreator, I'd guess not so much.

It's just, after visiting La Sagrada Familia, I could buy that a crack-pot artist might think he *was* creating something that could gather and focus energy.

I love the DP. But then, given what Masq just posted on _grr_argh, you probably know that.

Yep, the idea of a building architecturally designed as ome kind of occult amplifier/transducer appears in Ghostbusters, but wasn't original to that film - for a start I think Ghostbusters nicked that subplot from a Dario Argento movie. (Back at the start of BtVS7, some people were speculating that Xander had pulled something similar with the new Sunnydale High, for good or evil.)

It seems like it should be a Lovecraftian idea, except the architecture stereotypical of his stories strikes me as being more subterranean than skyscraping.

I love Doom Patrol! Have you read the rest of Morrison's run on it? Funny as can be, yet it'll break your heart into a million pieces. I keep hoping they'll put out more collections so I don't have to rely on my original issues.

I've heard rumor of a third collection due out in October; I, however, found a torrent and am up through issue 45.

Neat! Have you come across Flex Mentallo yet? And Danny the Street? And and... there are just too many cool things to mention. Morrison scared me with his brain.

The last issue I read was, in fact, the one where Danny the Street appeared as a corridor in the Pentagon's sub-basement while Flex Mentallo regained his mystery muscle power and by flexing alone changed the Pentagon into a circle.

You know, the usual.
