[ it's taken alma.. a long time to recover. and not only recover, but to find some kind of peace with himself, with who and what he is. he still-- isn't really sure he knows, even after months, but he's-- he's doing better, anyway. he knows he is. he's not so terribly confused by it all, now, and he thinks he might remember what it was like

-- Alma? [Approaching the bench from behind and leaning over to get a look at his face, to make sure this was the same one. He thought he'd gone home]

Because I'm not. [Glances back to that] You are?

Yeah. It suits you. [ he slides his fingers through it, bringing a few strands toward his lips, smiling against them. ]

[That gets a bit of a stare, like he's not sure what to make of the gesture. Which he's not]

I guess that mess on your head suits you, too.

It's the only hairstyle I remember. [ he releases kanda's hair, blowing his own bangs out of his eyes. ]

... You still had these. [Reaches to give a quick tug on his longer side bangs] But it was neater, and lighter. You also kept it up and wore a headband and a ribbon.

I--! I did not! [ laughter, unfolding himself to punch kanda in the arm. ] Even I know that!

Hey! [Gives him a shove in return] You did, I've seen it!

Did not! [ all but tackles him off the bench, trying to pin him down and sticking his tongue out at him. ] I'm not a girl!

[Oof, hey. Reaches to try and roll them over to switch their positions] But you were.

[ he struggles, but not too hard, huffing when kanda manages to knock him over. ]

Yeah, but I'm not now!

[ grabbing his shirt, bucking up to try to roll them both back over again. ]

Obviously. [Fumbles a bit and presses his hands against the ground, trying to keep his balance and position]

[ dammit, now he's stuck. he tries to push up slightly, teeth snapping at him playfully. ]

Well, that means I didn't wear my hair in a ribbon, you jerk.

But you did when you were a girl. Though I wouldn't put it past you now.

I bet I didn't. I bet.. even she wasn't that girly. [ but then again, maybe she had been. he tugs his wrists against kanda's grip, but then relaxes back slowly, expression thoughtful. ] .. You really remember?

Yes she was. [He pauses when Alma does]

... A little, mostly just when I made that promise. You... she's here, too. Before either of us died the first time.
