[Do you know where you are?]

[Perhaps it's in a field full of wildflowers, far as the eye can see. Or, perhaps it's a cobblestone street with the scent of fresh apples for sale. Maybe it isn't somewhere quite that pleasant.]

[Wherever you are, something isn't quite right. It isn't an obvious thing, but rather a lingering instinct somewhere in the ( Read more... )

[...He's home. Or at least a nice large house that looks close enough to pass for his first home. He's sitting on a porch swing, with a book in his lap. And despite how normal it all looks, it's already upsetting to him.]

[Usually, Road likes her dreams to be very vibrant with colors. Heightened details, panoramic views. But this one is fading into almost a sepia tone.]

[There are flowers rising from the ground, little Yuu. It's a slow trickle at first, a sunflower rising up between his feet from the crack between two boards.]

[While that is the only one that seems to grow through the porch boards, there are hundreds - thousands - more sprouting up in the yard, turning it into a sea of sepia tone yellow.]

[He just stares down at it for a moment, not sure what to make of it. But that sepia tone is immediately displeasing for some reason. And why so many flowers? He hasn't seen any grow in ages, much less so many at a time. It bothers him in ways he can't really figure out.]

[Sunflowers are called sunflowers because they are supposed to follow the sunlight. And the sun appears to be setting behind the house across the street - was it always there? Or are you just now noticing it.]

[These sunflowers - and even the one between his feet that is now two feet high - are facing the opposite direction. They're all facing Yuu. It's like hundreds of thousands of large, round, black eyes just staring. Waiting. Watching.]

[You don't want to stay out here, do you?]

[Walking into this dream, is like walking into a saloon. There's a low murmur of voices that don't seem to match up with any of the people's mouths--especially considering none of them have mouths, or even faces for that matter.]

[In the corner, there is an upright piano, blasting music that is unusually happy, considering that this is obviously a nightmare dream.]

[The man that is playing it has long hair, although its color is difficult to distinguish; it's obscuring his face from view. While his fingers are dancing over the keys, the rest of him is perfectly still, almost like a statue.]

[It's funny, how physics make so little sense in dreams.]

[Redteenth sits near the back, near the piano, looking as he sometimes does--a mix of Neah and Lavi rather than one or the other.

He sips from the glass, even though it's empty.]

[The piano man hasn't noticed his audience - he's still playing. And as if on a loop, as soon as the song comes to an end, he starts to play it over again.]

[Except, it sounds different this time. It's almost like it's out of tune, but that isn't quite what it is. Perhaps he missed a note. Or maybe he just fumbled. Either way, it doesn't sound just right.]

[At the same time, a lady of the night - if that's what you want to call her - approaches and leans on Redteenth's table.]

[Would you like something more to drink, sugar?]

[In some ways, Road is much like a cat when it comes to toying with people's dreams. But Tyki - her world's Tyki, and therefore every other Tyki ever - is one person she is beyond displeased with at the current moment. He can probably feel it, a violent lurch in the air. A definite tension, the kind that leaves one's hair standing up on the back of his neck.]

[You're a liar.]

[The words are a whisper in the air, coming from all directions at once. Difficult to properly discern, and yet clear as a bell at the same time. Funny, how dreams work, isn't it?]

[Do you know that you're not in control yet, Tyki?]

[If it's possible, it begins to rain harder. Almost a deafening sort of sound. And it isn't just any rain; there's a metallic smell coming off of the street. Blood.]

[It's starting to rain so hard now that the rain is starting to splash up from the street. Let's hope you're not wearing your good suit, Tyki.]

[Despite the fact that none of the buildings thus far have had windows or doors, there's one about fifty feet away or so that actually does. It looks like a saloon, or maybe a tavern, with a large bay window. There's light pouring out from it - and the faint hint of music playing from inside.]

[Are we in Ireland, Tyki?]

[The pub is probably not what Tyki will notice first. There's something laying in the middle of the street, bathed in the light from the tavern's window. From this distance, it just looks like something wrapped up in a blanket and left outside.]

[Seek respite from the weather, or investigate what looks an awful lot like a body?]

[underwater.

underwater, and all it's glory. crystal clear lake water, perfectly settled silt, sunlight streaming down in bands over schools of colorful fish. and at the very bottom, there's beds and beds of kelp, seaweed, underwater grasses.

in one of those beds of kelp, there's a Kanda laying facedown in it. the only thing that can be seen of him, though, is his upper torso. everything else seems to be.. hidden.

is he awake? well, his eyes are closed. one can only tell by approaching.]

[If he happened to open his eyes and stare up he'd see here there. Looking down at him above the water in her white cotton dress she gets down on her knees and tests the surface of the water with her hand, nervous and confused as to why she hasn't fallen through yet.]

but other than that, staying asleep and half hidden in the grasses.]

[Standing in a field of green grass with bright blue skies over head. Up to her ankles is water, clear as anything. Small fish swim around her feet and a breeze pushes at her white, cotton dress. She stares down into the water and notices... that she can't see the bottom. Never mind that she can't even feel any mud beneath her feet.]

[It's funny, how quick scenery can change. While the sky is bright blue, just over a rather steep hill up ahead, it's starting to darken; very thick and very dark clouds rolling it. There's a flicker of lightning, bringing with it a crackle of thunder.]

[That breeze was nice a moment ago, but it's starting to feel chilly now.]

[It's the cold breeze that makes her look up. Rubs at her arms and squints at the darkening clouds over yonder.]

[The dream isn't going to give Alma much of a chance to react to the breeze. Because there's the sudden feeling of a rug being yanked out from under her feet.]

[Hold your breath, or don't. But despite that the water had been shallow a moment ago, you're going to start falling down the rabbit hole.]
