Things may be different where I live, but once upon a time I was the victim of a violent crime- with out health insurance.

I required 2 days of hospitalization and a year or so of therapy... There is a program that was set up to help people in situations like that. IT could be worth looking into. My hospital bills were mostly taken care of.

Suggestions for nonprescription things: Vit. C and B vitamins are good for bruises and soft tissue in general; if you can find a source for comfrey, or comfrey salve, it may also speed healing and reduce pain (but don't drink it as tea as it may have some liver complications.)

arnica cream. mothers i know call it "child abuse cream" because it heals bruises so quickly. (mothers i know are a very, very sarcastic lot.)

Yes, I was also going to suggest arnica as a topical, as well as Vitamin E, which helps with healing internally. If you've got open but superficial injured skin (scrapes, small cuts) Vitamin E is also great to apply right to the skin to promote healing.
