Title: From the Ashes
Words: 287
Rating: PG
Warnings: AU. Character Deaths. Angst.
Author's Notes: Set in a world where Voldy was defeated, but Harry died in the process. Lots of casualties on both sides.

The Burrow; Three hours after the fall of Voldemort
Ginny fell to her knees, defeated, in the field just outside the place that used to be her home. Her home, now burned to the ground.

Dead, they were all dead. A battle raged and the tyrant lost, but at what cost? Most of her family was gone. Harry was gone. What good was victory when the aftermath would leave a bitter taste on her tongue?

She buried her head in her hands as she tried to cry for what was gone, cry for the longing she held for the days before tragedy was a daily occurrence.

Her tears were as dry as the ashes of her childhood home.

Malfoy Manor; Three hours after the fall of Voldemort
Draco stood coldly still across the street from the Manor. Burned to insignificant ashes, like the world he had once clung so tightly to.

He tried to feel something in regards to this oddly symbolic sight before him, but all he could muster was a distinct longing for the days ahead when all of this would cease to matter, when everything would fall into an easier stride.

The Burrow; Five hours after the fall of Voldemort
Draco fell to his knees beside the redhead he'd come to know so well in the past year, through the times when he was sure she was the only thing he knew that was right and real. Wrapping himself around her, she pulled her into him at sat silently with her until she began shaking with the tears that had eluded her for so long.

"Shh, Gin-girl," he spoke softly into her hair. "We'll build a new home together. I'll build you a phoenix."

Title: Insomniacs
Words: 400
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Language.
Author's Notes: Set in Draco's '8th year.'

Ginny ground her teeth through the pain, reaching once again as far as she could, but her wand had fallen just a few inches too far. It was her own fault, sneaking out to fly in the middle of the night, but ever since she’d come back to Hogwarts, she could never sleep more than a couple of hours without jerking awake from a dream of her brother’s body or due to the whimpering from another girl’s nightmares.

So now, it was after two in the morning, she was pretty sure her leg was broken, and lack of sleep was doing nothing for her wandless magic. “Accio,” she whispered in desperation, holding her hand out toward her wayward wand. “Accio! Accio, damnit!”

Taking a deep breath, she tried to crawl a couple of inches only to collapse again with a strangled scream. She rested her head on her arm, breathing hard. She could imagine Ron’s ranting and raving when he woke up in the morning to discover her in the Hospital Wing.

Despite the thick silence of the night air, she didn’t hear the footsteps approaching through her own gasping. “You do know the cure for insomnia isn’t a broken limb, don’t you Weasley?”

She recognized the voice at once and couldn’t hold back. “Oh, Merlin’s balls!” Of all the people to come across her in this state, it had to be Malfoy? Where was Hagrid when she needed him?

“Well, that’s an image,” he said with amusement in his voice. “Good thing I can’t sleep, or you might give me nightmares.”

A twinge of pain shot through her leg, and she moved instinctively to quell it, which only made it worse. “Fuck!” She glared up at Malfoy and saw something like concern on his face, which to be honest meant nothing to her because he wasn’t moving. “Malfoy! If you’re not going to help me, kick me my wand so I can fucking do it myself, yeah?”

Jumping as if shocked, he nodded and nudged the wand closer to her. She rolled her eyes and grabbed it, using it to charm a splint for her leg. It was shoddy, but it would do.

Malfoy sighed, and suddenly she was in his arms, being carried toward the castle.

She started to protest, but he cut her off. “Shut it, Weasley. I prefer my undying gratitude silent, if you don’t mind.”

Title: Wishing
Words: 270
Rating: PG
Warnings:
Author's Notes:

“Ginevra Weasley, what do you think you’re doing?”

Ginny turned around to face the blond man standing at the doorway, his eyebrows raised as he looked at her questioningly.

“Come on now, Gin, don’t cheat.” Draco said, taking the bright red and green wrapped box she was hiding behind her. “Christmas is only two days away, I’m sure you can wait that long.”

Ginny sighed dramatically as she took his hand. “Why can’t we just speed up the process. Instead of waiting two days we could wait two seconds.”

Draco laughed pulling her into his arms. “You are a very impatient girl. But I’m pretty sure we can find some things for you to do so you’re not tempted to open any more presents till Christmas.”

“Like what?” Ginny asked, wagging her eyebrows evilly.

“Oh, I dunno, maybe a little game?” Draco asked his fingers playing with her belt buckle.

Ginny laughed leaning forward to kiss him.

With a start, Ginny woke up, the world spinning for a second as she tried to orient herself. Turning around, she stared at the tombstone wistfully. She would give anything in the world to wait a thousand days for Christmas only if he was with her.

The grass was cold and had left marks on her legs, but Ginny didn’t want to leave. Touching the spot on the grass where Ginny imagined his head to be, Ginny wished she could be down there with him.

Unfortunately wishing hadn’t helped Christmas come faster and nor would it work now. She’d just have to grit her teeth and wait till they were together again.

Title: Who Said Love Was Easy?
Words: 214
Rating: G
Warnings: -
Author's Notes: EWE/AU in which Draco is shunned by the Wizarding World and Ginny has chosen to follow him, thus denying her own connections with her home and family.

“Gin-we should go.”

She’s sitting on the grass, her head turned to face it: the house she grew up in, the house that was her shelter, her cocoon, for such a long time. A brief gust of wind touches her forehead, ruffles her hair; a few strands escape her loose ponytail and she reaches to tuck them back behind her ears.

“I mean it.” His voice grows wary. “Should someone see us…”

“You think they’d give us in? Betray their own blood?”

Draco kneels by her side, his eyes caressing her fragile back, her long hair; all too dear to him; all too precious to risk it. “They’re not the only ones living around here, Gin. Let’s-let’s just leave.”

He feels guilty. She can’t have her home, her parents, and her family, because of him. It was her choice, alright, to follow him, a pariah, but does she really have to pay this high a price?

“Ginny.” His hand touches her shoulder lightly, and she doesn’t start. She leans against him instead, not letting him see the tears that run down her face. “It’s getting late.”

“Just… just a minute. Really.”

He hates the agony in her voice, but he loves her. And no one ever said that’s easy to deal with.

Title: An Unexpected Intrusion
Words: 400
Rating: R-NC17
Warnings: Strong sexual situations and language

"Say it, Ginny." Draco's voice was heavy with intent, the deep timber exhilarating her senses.

Ginny scratched her fingers down his back, her hips bucking, begging for connection.

A low growl escaped his throat as Draco's lips scorched her neck, strong fingers kneading her stiff peaks.

"Say it," he panted into her mouth, his face hovering just above hers. Ginny parted her lips to catch his breath, desperate to consume every scrap of his essence.

"Fuck me, Draco," she moaned, the words still wet on her lips as he claimed her. She arched into him, never close enough, aching to fuse with his flesh.

"Ginny," he whispered, her name sliding over his tongue like silk.

"Ginny."

"Ginny, wake up."

Ginny opened her eyes, wincing at the light streaming over her face. Harry's hand rested on her shoulder, his touch boringly familiar.

"Another nightmare?" he queried, smoothing back her hair. A wan smile was all she could muster, hating how often she lied to her husband.

Harry trailed his fingers down to her chest, completely oblivious to being cuckolded nightly by Draco Malfoy.

Ginny's life had been upended two years earlier when a brief encounter at a Ministry function informed her of what was missing from her life.

Draco had just been performing up to his usual salacious standard, ogling Ginny's cleavage and making inappropriately lewd remarks. But when he pressed her into a corner, brazenly caressing the swell of her breasts and teasing her nipples with practiced ease, an unexpected shock-wave of pleasure had electrified her sex.

A wicked sparkle danced in his eye when he dipped his head to hers, their lips dangerously close. "Does Potter even know what to do with you?" he whispered, his breath hot against her skin before he walked away.

Ginny slumped against the wall, afraid that her body would turn mutinous and chase after him.

Draco had managed to excite her more in twenty seconds than Harry had during their entire relationship.

He'd plagued her thoughts ever since, Draco's nightly visits mocking the dull reality of her marriage.

Ginny sighed as Harry fumbled with her tits, hoping he'd interpret it as pleasure rather than frustration.

She wished Draco had never touched her. She'd been happier before, satisfied with what she hadn't known.

Wandering back to the dream, Ginny clutched at Draco's fading image. A small comfort when she longed for the real thing.

Title:Playing a Waiting Game
Words:366
Rating:PG
Warnings:Angst, longing, prejudice and creative license with prompt.
Author's Notes:Takes place after the war and is slightly AU in nature.

Ginny sat upon the hillside amidst the golden array of grasses, reading and waiting. She knew it might be hours before the signal would come. Soon after the war, this had become a nightly ritual for her. She came here just outside of the tall brooding mansion to sit, watch and wait.

She was waiting for the signal, a flickering of green light that would emanate from his room. It was the signal that his parents had gone to bed and she could come in. This had been a continuing game of theirs now for several months. It was okay for them to see one another as long as no one found out. She didn’t blame Draco for the way things were because she too was ashamed of her love for the handsome blonde wizard.

When Harry had finally told her he thought he was gay, Ginny had no choice but to explore other avenues. She hadn’t ever thought it would lead to being the secret mistress of one of her former enemies but it had. It was a love she could no longer deny.

Draco had changed since the war ended, realizing the mistakes he had made. Harry had come forward and testified on behalf of the Malfoys because of Narcissa’s bravery in helping to save his life. He had felt he owed it to them all. Lucius’ prejudice had changed little though, in light of the destruction it had caused and this disappointed his only son. Especially since, he now secretly loved someone, considered a blood traitor and inferior in many ways, to his pureblooded father.

Ginny and Draco now resigned to seeing one another in secret, both longed for more but were equally scared of the repercussions. Someday soon, they would have to face their love for one another but until then this was all they had to sustain them in this war-ravaged world of theirs.

Ginny finally saw the green flicker that invited her into Draco’s quarters for the night. Taking a deep breath, she pulled the stray grass from her fiery red hair and tucked her book away in her overnight bag. She concentrated hard and then apparated out of sight.

Title: To Say It In A Letter
Words: 354
Rating: K
Warnings: None
Author's Notes:

Draco sat in his study, tapping his quill against the desk for the better part of an hour as he tried to figure out what to write. How to say he was sorry, how to get her back.

Draco sighed and dropped the quill, rubbing his palms across his face exhaustedly. The blank parchment lay before him mockingly.

Standing, he moved to look out the bay window; out across the expansive fields that surrounded the manor, turning into a small wood a mile and a half away.

His heart dropped into his stomach and he stepped forward unsteadily, leaning against the glass window. At the edge of the wood a young woman stood facing the house, her long skirt and red hair blowing in the wind.

Draco couldn’t believe she was there.

Without a second thought he bolted from the room, skidding to a halt outside the manor. She was gone.

Draco felt sick, feeling like he had just lost her again, knowing that it was his fault she was gone. He stood alone, eyes locked on the place he had seen her, unable to return to his study.

After a moment, the deep red of her hair began to appear over one of the hills and he felt energy pounding through him.

Draco ran towards her, not wanting her to disappear again. She paused at the top of the hill and waited for him.

As he got closer he could see the grin on her face as an infectious laugh bubbled up inside her.

Draco barely stopped as he swept her up into his arms, kissing her as he did.

She continued to laugh, tears slipping down her cheeks as she ran her hands across her face, remembering its shape and feel.

Draco looked down at her, still unsure she was really there.

He brushed the tears away, remembering the feel of her skin under his fingers.

Draco smiled softly, now knowing what he had wanted to write in his letter.

“I love you,” he whispered for the first time. She smiled up at him, knowing he meant it.

“I love you too.”

Title: In This Life
Words: 211 words
Rating: G
Warnings: None.
Author's Notes: Slight AU.

There's a house there, hidden behind the dry, seedlike stalks. The fields of gold. She knows its there - it's always been, even as the forest was burnt for land and the houses were swept away by big money; new money, filling the town with its prosperity. She hears the roaring of the creek, the vastness of the water streaming, the creaking old wood of the water wheel as it turns and twists and groans under its weight.

She knows he lives there. She knows because she saw him once, in the forest, standing in that very creek, barefoot and perfectly still, like a painting, like a painting. His hair was gold, his skin pale; her fingers itched to touch him, to see if his surrealism could turn to something real in her hands.

But she can only lie in the barley while her brothers work the land. Her mother didn't want her around the house; her health too fragile, her hair too red, her name too common. Appearances are everything, and Ginny spends her day gazing at the perfect house up ahead, hair a storm in the wind, wishing and wishing and wishing he'd open the door, come out and rescue her from this life.
