No point in looking for sentimentality from Dave, of course, but he's never actually forgotten their birthday (and even if he had, Grace and Ryan Pendergast eating cake probably only means one thing), so before eating his own piece of cake, he sticks a birthday candle in the side of his gratuitous slice and lights it, sloppily, with his lighter. Holding it out to the two of them, he commands "Blow."

Dave's probably one of the very few people that Ryan would even think about cooperating with, so with a little bit of urging from Grace, the two of them get ready to blow out the candle together.

"Make a wish," he tells her, wryly.
