She doesn't settle for simply walking into the room like any normal person would; she strolls in, with the expectation and assurance that every single person in the room will have their eyes on her from the minute she enters. She has complete faith in the effectiveness of her beauty and charm (and considering her parentage, why wouldn't she?), but ( Read more... )

"Oh, you know, darling. The kind where only the best and brightest are invited; where there are plenty of good-looking people willing to fight over you?" She places a finger to her lip, thoughtful. "Then again, I'm not quite sure you would know. We don't exactly circulate in the same social circle, after all."

"So not the fun kind." Aspasia gracefully lifts one leg and examines her manicured toes, then shakes out her long hair and sinks languidly into her couch, each movement poised with the grace of a classical courtesan. "Not the sort where you have something to show for your labors at the end of the night, and where you end up with some measure of worship as opposed to curses?" She glances at her partial-sister and allows herself the hint of a smile. "Don't despair, Anosia. I'm sure there's a possibility you could ascend closer to my sphere."

"Who ever truly enjoys the easily attainable?" Anosia asks, with a slight arch of an eyebrow, emphasis on the word 'easily'. "When a man looks back on his life, he doesn't remember what is right in front of him, what he touched and held; he remembers what he almost had, what he sorely wanted. That's the true currency of human emotion. Greed and envy."

*purses her lips together slightly, looking disappointed* Nobody's any fun anymore. What happened to gods and their debauchery?

That would be my brother you're looking for if that's the sort of fun you want.

"What, you're not going to volunteer to start one with me?"

"Oh right. How stupid of me." A grin. "Want to start one?"

"If you know me at all, you know that nothing could keep me away from a good party," she replies cooly. "You supply the alcohol and the music, I'll supply the location and the guests."

Edmond's eyes are dutifully locked on her, the curve of his lips just the slightest bit predatory. "Depends on what would meet your exacting standards, gorgeous."

She very obviously eyes him in return, then casually glances down at her nails. "I don't know, my standards are very exacting."

"Food and alcohol, as you like, are available in plenty. Drugs as well, whatever your taste." He bows gallantly in greeting, smirking. "Prince Edmond Maraloffski at your service."

"Drugs aren't my taste in general, but alcohol may tempt me," she replies, extending a hand. "Anosia."

I don't think we're talking about the same sort of party.
