Well. This is new.

The newest arrival has many noteworthy features; his vaguely Scottish accent, curly reddish hair, pointed ears, and  oddly old-fashioned clothing, but it is his height that first strikes one. He can't be much more than four foot three. It makes perfect sense to him. His famous father was the tallest hobbit in history so it is only right that his ( Read more... )

There just so happens to be a little, demon child by the name of Cicero running around today. Not that anyone would actually assume that he was a demon, as he doesn't particularly look like anything in any way evil, and not that he's actually little to someone like Faramir, as he does stand a good three inches taller than the hobbit in question. But either way, there is a Cicero running about, or more like strolling with the usual bounce to his step, humming to himself around the rather oversized cookie simultaneously held in both his hand and his mouth.

He stops when he sees the hobbit and tilts his head before finally biting off the mouthful of cookie, chewing and swallowing. "You're in the place where you go when you're not going anywhere at all." It's a very matter-of-fact statement. "A lot of people are here a lot of the time and a lot of them don't know how or why but that's just the way it is."

Cicero rolls his eyes as if it's the easiest thing in the world to understand. "If you're going somewhere but you're not sure where, or maybe you know where and you just get distracted, then sometimes you end up here instead! And once you know that here exists, you can get here whenever you want, as long as you can actually figure out how to finally get to where you were supposed to be going in the first place."

"I was just going to the orchard." He shows the apple as evidence.

"Your guess is as good as mine," Persis says with a shrug, looking him over curiously. For the sake of exposition, she is a somewhat tall young woman with two large feathered wings growing out of her back.

He knows it isn't polite but Faramir really can't help staring. "Oh."

A little extra attention is natural for angels in her world, so almost out of habit Persis fluffs up her wings a bit, spreading them slightly. "I've been here quite some time and from what I know no one's sure exactly what's going on."

Celebanthir has never met a hobbit before, but he knows enough to recognize one on sight. Very excited and smelling of fresh-baked muffins, Cely stops on his way back to the kitchen and grins. "I'm sorry, but--are you a hobbit?"

"Yes. You're an elf, right?"

"Only half-elf, really. I'm from Lorien." Ani grinned at him, excited. "I've never met a real hobbit before."

"Really? I've met some elves but I don't think any of them were from Lorien."
