And thank you for your post! I definitely don't want to pull a Charles Stross, but I also have to make things make sense in my head before I slap terms down, so while I'm close to the approach you talk about, I guess I want to go a teeny step further in terms of research, if at all possible, and if said research relies solely on what other SF is using? Fine by me. :)
