Naples is pretty nice, isn't it? My recollection of that town--what little I saw of it the one time I went there--was that the houses were really, really nice.

Oddly enough, though, my allergies didn't bother me anywhere near as much in Florida as they tend to in other places.

My allergies are worse up here in TN than they were there, but I still took my Claritin every day, because the first morning, I had a sinus headache that threatened to turn into a migraine. I kicked its ass. ;)

Sounds like a great time! Sherry and I are meeting up in Fargo in October--I don't think we'll run into quite as many distractions there. Any tips for making a 2 person writing retreat productive? I'm especially interested in how you talked your 2nd draft outline through with Michelle, since I'll be at that stage myself. Assuming I stay on track to finish the first draft by Oct 1.

We haven't been reading each other's work yet, but plan to do so before we meet up. I'm not sure what stage she's in, but I'm still generating a very rough draft that has huge gaps and inconsistencies, not to mention a lot of white room and talking heads as I discover more story.

Yes, it helps a lot. I'm sure that talking stuff through is what we'll spend a good chunk of time doing. I try to talk it out with my husband and he tries to be helpful, but this particular novel is really outside his sphere. So I'm looking forward to discussing it with someone who is actually interested (I hope.)
