8. Pillows
Yoochun contracted the virus first, of course. His throat was too sore to swallow anything, and his stomach ached too much anyway. He sweated off several kilos in his bed, using the comforter to cocoon himself in. Each sneeze wracked through his body like his lungs were failing. He couldn’t register who was taking care of him when, not with his foggy head. While it was usually Jaejoong, seeing as they were roommates, everyone looked like his mother to him.
That was until soon at work, Jaejoong started hacking up a storm with a fever dangerously high. The headaches were real and the dizziness wretched. The looks his coworkers gave scared him, and so was the unpaid leave his boss forced on him. “Go to the hospital if you have to.”
The setup when he got home was even more of a surprise, and he almost fainted right there. Yunho had evidently moved three of the futons together so Yoochun, and now Junsu and Changmin, could sleep together. Yunho was sitting on the floor with a laptop in his lap, searching up home remedies and deciding whether or not a trip the hospital was necessary.
“Yunho,” Jaejoong croaked from the doorway. The only healthy one left lurched up, the laptop clattering to the side, and raced to Jaejoong.
“Jae, my god, you’re so pale. Not you too! I’ll get out another futon, change your clothes.” Jaejoong fainted limply on the door, leaving Yunho to drag him over to the futons and lay him on top of the sickly pile. “Everyone was sent home at once. First I got a call from the University about Junsu, then not twenty minutes later I got another one about Changmin, both needing to be picked up. How did you get home?”
By that time Jaejoong had already fallen asleep with Junsu’s butt as a pillow, his legs digging under the blankets and wrapping around Yoochun’s body. Changmin had curled his body so tightly, there was no way Jaejoong could have disturbed him. His energy refused to come back, and every movement tortured his heavy limbs. If he could, Jaejoong would have liked to die right there.
“You can’t sleep like that! Change into your pajamas at least!” Yunho pulled Jaejoong off the pile the collar of his shirt, throwing off Yoochun’s blankets, much to his displeasure, and hauling Jaejoong to his bedroom for a change of clothes. Jaejoong pitched a fit the entire way, and when he was thrown onto the floor while Yunho searched for something comfortable, he too curled into a ball of sickness and whining.
I’ll only rest my eyes for a second…
“Don’t sleep yet! Please Jaejoong, cooperate with me!” Yunho kneeled beside Jaejoong, pulling him into a sitting position and removing his shirt. The sleeves got stuck on his arms and it took careful maneuvering to inch them off. Putting on the shirt wasn’t any easier, but the pants were a real challenge. Trying to pull off the pants of a squirming invalid is harder than trying to take each scale off a fish one at a time. He finally managed to unbutton the pants, and after that he really didn’t care how he got the pants, or what he took with them, off. He pulled them below his hips, underwear and all, and then from there Yunho grabbed the pants from his ankles and swiftly yanked them off, leaving Jaejoong exposed bottom in the air.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if Jaejoong hadn’t deliriously said, “That’s going to cost you one kiss.” The sick man tackled Yunho to the ground, blinding searching for his lips and leaving a sloppy mess behind. A blush quickly built on Yunho’s cheeks, bursting to life on his face when their lips actually made contact.
Before Jaejoong could muster the strength to blink, Yunho had already dressed him in a new pair of underwear and sweatpants. He spit out a bit, acting grossed out.
“Do you want me to get sick too? Who will take care of you guys then?” He continued rubbing his lips on his sleeve while once again dragging Jaejoong to the pile of sickness. The pile rearranged somehow, Junsu on his stomach curled around the Changmin ball and Yoochun sprawled out on his back with his equally pale stomach showing. Jaejoong settled again with his head resting on Junsu’s butt, this time lying on his stomach with Changmin as his bed.
“Just want to… sleep.”
The next morning Yunho joined them in the pile. None of them had the will to pull out the other futons and just curled closer to each other, transferring heat and germs, breathing into each others’ faces and using body parts as pillows.
