As much as I dislike Cruz, this was a good thing to be done. The convention crowd is terrifying.

Indeed, today Cruz followed up with his state delegation (Texas) at the convention. The meeting was on TV, and some delegates gave him hell for NOT pledging to support Trump. He defended himself very deftly, refusing to commit to a man who had insulted both his (Cruz's) wife and his father. (Who, Trump said back in May, had conspired with Oswald to assassinate Kennedy -- only one of many spectacular lies he's uttered!)

Quite a few delegates agreed that Cruz had been wronged.

Trump can just say whatever diabolical nonsense he wants and they will still clap and cheer. That is what scares me so much...

I'm beginning to suspect that Trump could sacrifice a goat on stage, declare his worship of Satan, declare that he was going to kill the first born of every couple, and the convention audience would still love him. He certainly appeals to them, but the question is whether he can carry everybody else along with him. I hope not!
